Also, it's a full week apart. They're in Ireland for 2-3 days. Theres not enough time to readjust so that you're lagged coming back.

Do any of you know how Jet lag works? The problem isn't going, especially west to east when you play a 1PM game. East to west, there is a catch up when (and if) you bite it and go for the long day. But you can plan around it. 99% of jet lag is poor planning or drunken hangovers.

There are ways to adjust your body so jet lag isn't much of an issue. Mainly I believe it has to do with getting accustomed to your environment when you land. So if you land in Dublin at 2 in the afternoon, your body should think it's 2 in the afternoon.

I actually just saw this on some PBS travel show where the guy plans activities that are physical for when he lands in Europe, like riding a bike or taking a long walk, instead of going to hotel and sleeping. There are also dietary things you can do like drinking lots of water. These guys are heavy duty athletes with trainers and coaches who know what is up.

That being said, long trips like that can be brutal, but I think it has more to do with physically traveling and being away from home.

Just have the team stay far away from the Guinness brewery tour. That stuff is even better tasting in Ireland.

Ain't no doubt about it. It rivals mother's milk, especially when pulled straight from the teat at St. James's Gate.

Wait so Dublin is an hour a head of London? Because, eastern time to GMT is 4 hours.

When will then be now?

Jet lag may affect them Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday (doubt Tues.) after the game, but they should be fine come Saturday with the game at Purdue, jetlag doesnt last forever guys and ND has plenty of qualified personal trainers to deal with this kind of stuff.

If we have to use jet lag as an excuse for losing to Purdue, it will be a looonnnggggg season.

I stumbled on a "cure" for jet lag on my first flight to Europe. At least for the return to Minneapolis from Paris. I didn't sleep. I'm not sure why (I tried) but I didn't. I got home late afternoon and got together with friends that evening and into the night. I then slept like a log (a dead one at that) for 10 hours and was good to go when I came to.

My wife, the experienced world traveler, slept on the plane but needed three days of mid-day naps and late night TV to snap back to Central Daylight Time.

The flight over was a different animal. [Refer to Mr. Bog's comments on poor planning and hangovers, though I was more "still drunk" than hungover on arrival in Frankfurt.] My wife was a sales manager for a Tour and Travel company. We got to the airport four hours before departure so she could schmooze a bit.

Northwest set us up in the High Flyers Lounge, or whatever they called it. Never one to turn down free Scotch, I took advantage. We were then upgraded to first class. More free booze (served two at a time), including a bottle of good Cabernet (with a lobster dinner – real plates and real silverware), a couple of snifters of Cognac and some chilled Russian Vodka. A movie started. I reclined my seat (in first class it became a bed), plumped my full sized pillow, pulled up the comfy blanky, caught the credits and quickly "drifted off."

A few hours later I was rousted by a flight attendant, given a cup of coffee, a hot towel and a tooth brush with toothpaste. My arrival and the first day was a bit foggy and more than a touch painful.

"Certainly, Tommy will continue to get work to keep him sharp. He's a winner and understands our offense... BUT, clearly we'll be focusing on three young men you saw this spring." - Brian Kelly

The Tommy Era looks to be over.

have the BK interviews been posted yet? I might have missed it with all of the riveting jet lag talk.

Brian Kelly Interview - Aug. 2, 2012 - YouTube

Like what BK has to say about the CB position.

Anyone hear anything about Kendall Moore's spring? I was hoping he'd do something this year, and with Carlo being out first game expect him to get some time. Is he going to be good for anything other than a couple nice hits on SP teams?

Yep. This isn't that complicated, especially coming back States-ward. You pull a long day flying home Sunday, then hit the sack at your normal time that night and wake up like usual Monday. Certainly you're fine by Tuesday. Like the brother from Tennessee said, if we lose to Purdue because of jet lag, things are going to really blow by USC weekend.

Is this an actual dialog for the radio link minus the bug comments?
