The NFL talent Butch brought to UNC was ridiculous. Good hire for FIU.

Except that the FIU AD said the program had regressed academically under Cristoball. Not exactly sure Bitch Davis helps that. Actually I am positive it doesn't.

@AlbertBreer: If Pioli gets another chance in KC, it could be w/the coach he wanted all along - Kirk Ferentz. Again, nothing completely certain there yet.

@AlbertBreer: On Ferentz, he's wanted to coach his sons through Iowa. His youngest, Steve, is a freshman. But his job security could influence a move.

Can't see it happening.... Don't want to see it happening.

Damnit, it is spreading...

@RapSheet: On KC: Pioli's best to stay w #Chiefs is to bring in #Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz. Hear Iowa coaches are calling around, inquiring about jobs.

@HS_BHGP: Kirk Ferentz still top choice of Chiefs' Scott Pioli, according to report http://t.co/27M8XtRt

idk if that would be a good hire for kc...yes he has a little nfl experience, but outside of that he's kind of fallin off the map and been irrelevant the past couple of years

I agree. Ferentz has had some good years but he hasn't been consistently good. Iowa was terrible this year.

Assuming KC does hire Ferentz though, I wonder how high Diaco would be on their list. We all assume that Diaco would take the job in a second (has Diaco confirmed that, btw? or are we just assuming because it's his alma mater?) but who knows if the Iowa AD has someone else in mind.

Rumors of Ferentz going to the NFL are funny for every college football fan. Except ND's. Iowa is Bob Diaco's alma mater

Yeah. As a head coach? He's spent 15 years now wandering the middle of the pack in the Big Ten. I can see Pete Carroll or Chip Kelly, but is there any reason to think Ferentz would be a good NFL hire?

And Randy Shannon is the new linebackers coach at Arkansas. Great hire by Bret, as it gives him even more ties to FLA.

I'd say by that list of names, it is still VERY early.

If any team hires Brian Kelly I will hate them.

If my Bears hire BK I'm done with them. I still couldn't root for Green Bay. Maybe I would have to join you folks in Indy start rooting for the Colts.

ND allegiance comes before the pros.

I think that the chances of Brian Kelly ever taking an NFL job are two, Slim and None. And I just saw them arm, down at the train station, leaving town.

The job at Notre Dame is better than most jobs in the NFL. Kelly would be a fool to leave

There were what 7 head coaches fired today. People are literally going to name anyone with a winning record for any position.

Seriously,

Kelly has made it clear he wants to coach 18 to 22 year olds;

That ND's mission is what it is all about;

He sees no additional glory in the NFL;

And, he doesn't need to do anything at this point in his career for money.

I agree with this.

If I was an NFL coach. Even if I was successful I would actually leave on the spot if ND offered.

Only way I could see Kelly leaving for the NFL is for the NE job after Belichick is done.
