How about the firing of Moore at AppSt? Beat UM, 3 straight national titles... Crazy. Guy wanted one more year and was going to retire. THANKS FOR NOTHING.

@BFeldmanCBS: Tennessee has offered the Vols head coaching job to Mike Gundy, a source told CBS this morning.

Time for T. Boone to take out the check book if he wants to keep him.

Heard last night that this isn't about money. Apparently Gundy does not get along with OSU's AD. Take it FWIW.

With Cristobal getting fired at FIU...how many minority coaches are left in college football? I counted three...Sumlin, Shaw, and Strong. Am I missing anyone?

I heard this differently. Was told Moore had arranged with the administration last year that 2012 would be his last year but wanted it kept under raps until the season was over.

You may be correct but it's sounds different locally.

Could very well be. The outside world will never know the ins and outs of these stories. Just how they want these stories spun.

Regardless, someone who has engineered all this at that school should be Paterno'd. Meaning, figure head of the program while everyone else runs it.

Gundy is staying at Oklahoma State.

So far the coaching search at Tennessee has been a trainwreck.

Thank you guys, didnt know that Tress was under the show cause. For those of you that do now know what that means see high level below:

In the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), a show-cause penalty is an order saying that for a set period of time, any NCAA penalties imposed on a coach involved in major rules violations at a university's athletic program will remain in force if he is hired by any other NCAA member institution. Both the school and coach are required to send letters to the NCAA agreeing to abide by any restrictions imposed, and report back to the NCAA every 6 months until the end of employment or the show-cause, whichever comes first. If the school wishes to avoid the NCAA restrictions imposed on that individual, it must appear before the NCAA Committee on Infractions and "show cause" as to why it should not be penalized for hiring him.

Agree and unfortunately, that is nothing new for them. Think back to the contract they gave Fulmer the year before he is ousted, gets a "lifetime contract" that stated all Fulmer had to do to remain on the sidelines the rest of his life was to win eight regular-season games per season. The next year he was fired.

Next they bring in Lane who bolted after one year and acted like a child while in knoxvegas.

After that shitshow, they bring in freakin Dooley. Enough said.

They fire him and whiffed on Gruden, whiffed on Gundy, whiffed on Strong. They are talking about Tressell (seriously, they are), Butch Jones (joining the football power houses CU and Purdue, tho they hired someone else), Petrino and Fedora. I think Fedora is the best bet for them if he is interested.

This is all really sad. I always had a soft spot for UT. It's a fun place to watch a game, the people are nice and they actually played a home and home with the Irish. All rare for the SEC.

Tennessee just needs a big name coach. If they do that, they can return.

Purdue is hiring Darrell Hazell as its new coach, a source tells CBS.

Brett McMurphy‏@McMurphyESPN

Sources said Darrell Hazel will get 6-year, $12M deal at Purdue. Only had $300K base salary at Kent State

I love that "only," like Brett McMurphy wouldn't love to be making $300K.

The Denver Post claims to have inside knowledge on this and they have been very accurate in the past. Denver talk radio are acting like this is a done deal and that Jones said it "was completely false" because he is down with his team for their bowl game. CU made a statement saying that no deal has been reached and they are not ready to confirm a hire. So essentially, saying that they don't have an inked deal but aren't going to deny that he's coming.

It's funny to hear detractors of Jones using the rational of "he is only good because he rode Brian Kelly's coat tails".
