The only way Alford and Elliot would leave is if they were offered a head coaching job. Leaving Notre Dame just to be a coordinator at a small school makes no sense to me

I don't think that makes sense to anybody

He's very young. This is his first year as a true coach. I expect significant improvement next year and moving forward.

Most of those conversations have came after an injury and we have not correctly filled that players position on special teams forcing us to take a pointless time out or penalty.

We all know Kelly is a stickler on the details. Booker well get with it and make Kelly happy in the off season.

I don't think Diaco will take one of those jobs. Kelly made it clear they were here to win a championship. Those teams well be looking to fill before we do that.

You're not going to get many head coaching jobs, at least somewhat good ones, if you aren't a coordinator so someone like Alford who seems to aspire to be a head coach may want to help his resume. Elliot is pretty old and has been around so I don't think he is going to get many offers as a head coach and why wouldn't you want to help one of your friends as he is starting out/get a promotion.

What do you define as a small school? Diaco won't go to a small school he would probably only leave to go to a middle of the pack one like Cincinati or Louisville if they came open. Those aren't small schools by any means. They both consistently compete for Big East titles. As was said earlier you're not going to get a BCS competitor at the beginning

No, I agree with you when you said Diaco could leave for Cinci or Louisville. I just don't see Alford or Elliot going with him to do the same thing they are doing now. I would rather be a coordinator at Notre Dame than a Big East school

Unfortunately for them, it is not probable that the Buffs change their head coach. It would go against everything the local media is saying. Word is that they will clean house with the assistants though.

Anyone think that Auburn looks to Gus Malzahn to rejuvenate their godawful offense? Or Charlie Strong?

That website has Martin as a possible candidate for Purdue. I think that he may be more likely to leave for a job like that than Diaco and it would suck for him to go. I completely forgot about the possibility he could leave and he could very well be as big of a candidate to leave as Diaco. I hope that none of the coaches really invest too much time interviewing/ or leave before the NCG

Martin is a more likely candidate though the lacking popular buzz of Diaco. Martin came to ND to get "his ticket punched". He was a veteran HC without big school exposure. He was a position coach the first year and then the OC.

Did he get the finishing school makeover in two years at the fishbowl?

I dont know if Diaco is ready yet to be a head coach. He's a great defensive coordinator, but still very young. I feel like he has much to learn, especially about offense, I think that was the point of making him an assistant head coach. I think Kelly will spend the next season or two tutoring Bob about offense, and the subtle details of being a HC. His potential is through the roof, but he needs to be ready.

Kiffen was a great OC under Carrol, but he went big too soon. If Bob is to leave, I want him to be succesful, I think he could use a few more years being tutored by BK.

Ha! Beat me to it!

Local news is pretty surprised. Everything was pointing to him staying as of this morning, then POW.

@Walter - Sorry for correcting your post. Looks like you had it right.

Here you go boys^^Bruce Feldman‏@BFeldmanCBS

An intriguing name for CU search: Bob Stitt at D2 CS Mines. Brilliant offensive guy. Thriving at high academic place: The man behind the hottest play in football - CBSSports.com

I not only see that as highly unlikely (I was wrong last time, mind) but a dumb move. They went with an unproven D1 head coach with Embree. There are going to be plenty of legitimate guys that will want that job. I think Feldman just pulled that out of his @ss.

Kinda surprised that O'Brien is out at NC State. They were 7 - 5 and gong to a Bowl. And he was 40 - 35 over 6 seasons.
