He seems to be one with the most ND interest

Yea and I really like Alston. This cycle they need to position themselves with all 3 or 4 of these guys as OSU seems to be a primary challenger for all. This way, if one chooses OSU you can be the defacto choice for the next. Instead of going all in on one and losing that one to OSU.

His runs in the second half were actually more impressive to me than his ones in the first. Love this kid and love the 1-2 punch of Kyren and Tyree.

He fast. I wonder how big a jump he makes in year 2.

Think there's a decent chance he's our best running back by the end of next season. I love Kyren, but he just doesn't have that next gear that Tyree does. Obviously, Tyree needs to improve his vision, hands, and blocking ability significantly to get there.

If Chris can improve his vision (and maybe it's just a matter of getting used to the speed of the college game), he'll be lethal. Til then, nothing but untapped potential.

IDK. Tyree is pretty tiny. If he put on weight and doesn't lose his speed, maybe. I think Kyren has plenty of speed and runs tougher. Not lightning like Tyree, but more than enough. I'm just happy to have two great backs at the same time. And CBo is a really really nice #3 who runs mean.

Yeah glad to have two guys. Not sure Chris is really a workhorse, but watch him turn into one now lol. Good football player. By the time he is done at ND I bet he scares the hell out of many

Fully commit to running next season with KW, CT and Cbo and start Buchner for his running and good long throwing to Austin and Lenzy and also sneak some Mayer in with Tremble blocking. Winning. How good is Mayer.

Not to beat the dead horse on the obvious and cliche Rocket comparisons.... But today reminded me of what Lou Somogyi always said about Rocket. He never was gonna be the guy to get the 25 carries a game, and a lot of casual fans would clamor for the Rocket to get the ball more because of his high yards per attempt, but Holtz would pound the rock early with either Culver, Watters, or Johnson, and then when the defense was worn down, Ismail would come in as the closer and carve up a slow and tired defense. Seems like that would be a pretty similarly effective way to utilize Tyree like they did today

I think he'll become a workhorse for us, just not sure it's next year. I'm perfectly fine with another year of him being a #2, but would like to see more of him in the passing game.

Not sure why he's been absent from the passing game this year to be honest. I'm guessing he might have a hands problem.... Last time I looked, only had a few receptions.

The value KW brings in getting 4 yards out of 0 is irreplaceable. That was our big problem last season the running game had far too many 0s.

It was a great run, but am I the only one wondering if #11 was going to catch him from behind?

Yeah. Surely he was playing with him. I think Tyree had after burners in reserve.

I'm perfectly fine with having a 1-2 punch with Kyren W. and Tyree. They bring different skills to the table.

Clemson begs to differ.

Kyren is the best all around back Brian Kelly has ever had at Notre Dame. Definitely the type of running back NFL teams look for.

But I do think Tyree will be really good.

Chris Tyree will be a VERY good ND RB. Kyren Williams is already a mind-bogglingly good ND RB --- nobody's replacing him as number one. His double cut on that Syracuse corner left Dungey, Tirico (and me) speechless --- I mean, superman unfair level cutting ability. ... and he catches ... and he blocks ... and he gets ostensibly emotional towards getting the team fired up during the game.

He won't get the recognition, but if you really consider all of those qualities, there is NO better back in the country.

Let’s play the Devils Advocate because I don’t disagree with the exception that Tyree can just be very good as I think he could be special. So for the sake of the argument, one could say that Tyree is vastly ahead of Kyren was as a true freshman. ND’s run game last season was subpar and Kyren couldn’t/ didn’t get on the significant time on the field hence getting Redshirted.

The point is last season there was a need for a RB to step up and be “the man” and not only did he not do that as I said and as we all know he couldn’t get anything more than a few touches as a true Freshmen.

This show you how far he’s come and the work he’s put in, that IMO and I believe many here see him as one of the best RB’s in college.

Tyree is way ahead of where Kyren was as a true Freshmen. Tyree “IS” blocked by a stud RB and has done well with his limited touches.

Tyree is hands down better as a true freshman and there is no reason he can’t make the same level of a leap as Kyren did.

I have no illusions that Tyree will be as complete RB as Kyren as he’s a totally different type of RB but he as good if not better.

That said I think next season with an inexperienced QB starting will see even more of a running game and wouldn’t be surprised to see much more of a 1-2 punch with Kyren & Tyree both getting significant touches.

Live action no but watching it a few times I think he was legit in cruise control and not opening it up unless he needed to. Even though he did look gassed on the sideline

"VERY Good" is "just..."? My rating scale makes VERY Good an NFL draftable RB and one of CFBs best backs.

And the discussion was whether Tyree unseats Williams as number one, not what level of improvements occur. I'll stand by my assessment that you don't unseat THE best back in the country.

Best case scenario Chris Tyree plays the lightning to Kyren Williams's thunder. 50/50ish split of carries, gains for days. Both profit, everyone wins.

Still fun to watch:

I think he lacks wiggle when he needs to juke a defender, but his ability to burst upfield when he sees a lane open is elite. I've been waiting since he signed to have him hit a crease like he did on Saturday where there were no bodies left to tackle him. Worth the wait.

(I know he had the long run against Syracuse, but that was just a straight line run. I'm talking specifically about his ability to be running horizontally, spot a crease, plant a foot and explode through it. Just awesome to see.)

Tyree's wiggle is still > George Atkinson III's wiggle

....heck. Josh Lugg's wiggle > GAIII's wiggle.
