So they dropped him in the rankings. Does that mean he won’t be as good as when was ranked higher?

Let him come in with a chip on his shoulder. He’s a stud.. any bulletin board material like this can only help.

Like how it helped him earn the starting spot!

My point is that "disrespect" isn't always spun into a positive. It's fairly well documented that Book struggled a lot of the 1st 1/2 of the season because of the "noise". Obviously I would hope that CT can make a positive out of this.

He's just small and I think maybe scouts realized how small over the past few months. He may never grow into an every down back, but he's exactly what ND needs right now- a playmaker with elite speed. ND still needs to get Shipley or someone similar in the next class to be more of a workhorse back.

If after the numerous camps and very public competitions he’s competed at, they are just now realizing his size or lack thereof, then they’re complete morons and seemingly blind. Chris has had a very public recruitment as he was one of the most sought after RB’s from very early on.

This is what 247 does. They’ll have a guy highly rated and then at the end drop them for some stupid reason.

He’s always been small. He didn’t get smaller, lol. And his lack of production this season was due to injury and his coaching staff being cautious with him.

Not every scout stands next to him and talks to him early in the process. They watch film, text, talk, whatever. When players go to camps there is more access and sometimes you will hear scouts say things like "I didn't realize how big/small he was until I stood next to him. He really is that big/small."

I'm not sure I can say this any differently. The 247 staff has evaluated Chris Tyree at least a few times, in person, before this and it was never an issue. He was at the Opening Finals in back to back years (getting an invite as a Junior is a big deal). 247 sends a majority, if not all, national scouts to that event. Including some regional guys. They've raved about him prior to this.

He's not smaller than when he competed at the The Opening Finals as a Junior in 2018 and was believed to be one of the best backs in his class. He's not smaller than when he competed at the Opening Finals last summer (2019) when he was on the cusp of 5 star status.

This isn't new. That's why it's bizarre and stupid

If size was that big of an issue for them, they should've never had him that high in the first place.

Just to reiterate, I don't care about rankings at all. But it drives me nuts that these guys get paid to do this for a living and their rationale, for some of these decisions, is beyond dumb.

Take Pyne for an example. Their knock on him is he couldn't compete against elite talent. Windows get smaller, DB's are faster, OL/DL are taller, etc. Well he outperformed every other QB in his AA game and he gets no credit for that. Sound logic there. Very sound. Please evaluate more of my prospects.

You're correct to focus on their financial incentives here, but I don't think it's as simple as "controversy". Spots in their top 100 and uncommitted prospects are valuable to them because they generate excitement, which drives page views and subscriptions. Our recruits tend to commit early and shut the process down; that's good for ND, but bad for the recruiting services' bottom line. So our guys get dropped to make room for prospects that'll generate more money for the services.

ND is like a large party that shows up to eat at a restaurant around 4:00pm. We're done and have paid our bill by 5:00, but as we sit there visiting without spending more money, the wait staff gets angry because they want to turn the tables over for new paying customers. So they start being rude to make us leave.

No reason to take it personally. Just have to realize the economic factors at play and make peace with the fact that our guys are systemically underrated as a result.

I heard he's been on a Keto diet since last summer.

does he have full senior film somewhere? i saw highlights from a few games this year on his hudl, and nothing screamed out 5* RB. not everything has to be an anti-ND conspiracy.

I believe he had a high ankle sprain fairly early on and then they were very cautious with him after that. Only had a total of 84 touches this year in 9 games played compared to 200 and 12 last year. Was still uber efficient at 9 yds/carry and 11 Td's on the season.

And, my comments are not to argue for a higher grade. I genuinely do not care. It's the absolutely moronic logic they use behind some of the ratings.

Also, I know there were lot of concern about his production this year. This might help answer some of that.

Congrats @chris_tyree4 but I’m more happy to see him healthy agn! Many of you don’t know that Chris played most of his Sr football season, playoffs & 2 All Star games w/ a high ankle sprain but he NEVER complained or made excuses! That’s just his character!! I can't wait to see him play for ND.

Chances of him starting at any point this year?

I give it a 25% chance and he would start later towards the end of the year to prep for the next year. I really want to see what Kyren Williams can do- he is my wild card at RB.

Just pass block

I think he ends up playing a significant role immediately. He is going to prove far superior to our other backs at hitting the hole they won’t be able to keep him off the field. He won’t need to pass block as they will run it down Navy’s throat. By game 2 he will be flying,

Well we seem to have a few “thunder” options but no “lightning” like Chris.. I’d like to see them get him on the field ASAP if he’s got the basics down.

Armstrong, Flemister, Smith and Davis as far as I remember don’t have game breaking speed.

I'll be curious to see Armstrong healthy and at a proper weight tbh. Definitely not Tyree speed (not many are), but he might surprise us.

Certainly feel as though a healthy Armstrong will be the feature back, as he can do just about everything well, but I have a feeling we see more Tyree as the season progresses and he is better acclimated. No doubt a healthy Tyree sees action in all 12 games IMO. His role will likely expand each week with his unique skill set in the RB room.

IDK. I see Armstrong being more of a satellite guy this year, which is the same things a 1st year Tyree would be good at. With all the pieces, I really have no clue though. I could see CBo and Smith being the traditional backs. Armstrong I'm sure will get his chances.

I heard one of the talking heads saying put him out there a lot even just as a decoy. Have him run down field as fast as he can on the first play and have Book throw it as far as he can. From then on whether it is a completion or not you are living rent free in the D coaches head.
