Yeah I don't think the sky is falling with this recruitment. Certainly OU did an amazing job and could win his recruitment. But no one has switched their CB's as of yet and I don't think he has cancelled his OV to ND either. I think we can still win this recruitment.

The 247 article suggests his plan at the moment would be to do that -- cancel OVs and make a decision. We'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

A lot of talk about how important academics are to Chris and his family. They went across the country to check out Stanford for an UV and in the end he's going to end up at the school with probably the worst grad rates on his list, especially for African American players. It doesn't get much better than that.

Why would you want to share carries with Jase McClellen and possibly/probably Kendall Milton???

Enjoy your 3 jet sweeps, 2 screen plays and PR/KR duties.

Come to ND and you're in the league in 3. OU... get's his Jordan swag and he's back at VT, MD, NC or PSU in 12-24 months.

Since Charlie Weis stepped foot on campus, you know how many RB's have been drafted out of ND? 2, with the highest coming 90th overall.

Oklahoma has 3X that amount, has the most exciting offense in all of CFB at the moment and has a head coach that is young enough to be carded.

If I were him, I would probably go to OU too.

That's the strange thing. Look at his twitter, he seems very well-spoken and I don't doubt his interest in academics but something at Oklahoma gave him pause.

Our depth is worse, our OL is better and we have the national stage every week on top of better academics.

We need to slip someone into Oklahoma for one of these events to figure out their recipe. There's gotta be a special sauce.

1) Cash, lots of cash, tons of cash
2) Jordan Brand. Kids love it for some reason
3) College Football Playoffs 3 out of the last 4 (only Alabama and Clemson are on par)
4) New practice facility opened in 2017 which I recommend checking out. It is ridiculous ($160 million and 132,000 square feet)

Something like half of the kids we hear about as "high-academic, really interested in a good education" end up at football factories. I don't know why anyone puts any sort of stock into it, absent other signs that it's actually the case.

Here's how it goes down:

Kelly: Let me talk to you at length about academics and why academics are hugely important.

Reporter one hour later: What do you like about Notre Dame?

Kid: Uh, academics.

If we were on a Bama board and reading a lot into every Tyree said about Bama, we'd think he was mostly concerned about winning Natties and preparing for the NFL.

Apologies for the double post, but it sounds like he IS taking his visit, which is the good news here https://247sports.com/college/notre...n-depth-on-Notre-Dame-and-Oklahoma-131298714/

That’s excellent news. From the sounds of that article it seems like now just an Oklahoma-Notre Dame race. I think if the staff recruits the heck out of him for the next 3 months and lays out the red carpet for him in June then in July/August we might get some good news. I like that Loy and Wiltfong have kept their CB’s on ND after the visit.

Maybe we can bus some girls in from IU and Ball St. ?

If he keeps his visit, we have a shot. You just never know about teenagers.

It’s a very common recruiting tactic and really what all coaches do.

Oh I'm very aware the tactic is used by everyone. They've been doing it for decades. I referenced Saban because of the time he "bumped" into a recruit while on a trip to LA. IIRC, he was supposed to be on vacation and just happens to bump into this recruit in a metro area of 13 million? lol

I believe it may have been a recruit ND was pursuing which is why I remember it.

It is a total fallacy that the “evaluation period” isn’t a time to actually meet recruits in person and talk to them. On the basketball side of things I was recruited in high school and one coach mentioned about that rule, “it basically means keep it 20-30 minutes of talking to the kid” lolol. Brian Polian is not flying from Notre Dame to Honolulu to get a transcript from the school secretary and meet with the HC for 15 minutes before getting on a plane, he’s definitely finding an opportunity to speak to Jordan for a little while. Obviously you can’t go in home or hang out with them for hours, but a quick chat is definitely happening. From April 15th-May 31st, the staff has the opportunity to visit each kid’s high school twice for a “transcript pickup” and chat. It is good of Lance Taylor to use one of those early and hopefully again in a few weeks before the end May.

Young put in an Oklahoma CB.

I played ball at Williams College. Had some lower D1 ball offers but chose the academic route ha. Trust me, when i visited UNF and they had a lazy river with girls in bikinis I definitely wanted to go there before my parents talked some sense into me.
