I was reading recently that people have been kind of down on OSU's linebacker situation, but they are hopeful that they have a couple of guys healthy and ready to be hybrid guys ala JOK this year, neither of which is Cody Simon.

The context seems to be that Cody is an inside LB, and they hope he pushes for a spot... but OSU was going hard after some transfer ILB's to step into playing time, so he may need some seasoning, along with whoever else they've got.

OSU lost everything 1s wise at LB and didn’t rotate much to boot. Dallas Gant is probably the only LB I’d feel confident saying will start the other spots could be pretty open still

That'll be a trip down memory lane for sure. It'll be interesting to see if it matters. We're going to have a pretty good LB core for the foreseeable future.

No not sure who that is, I was just scrolling through Simon’s history and seeing why we ended up losing out on him because Merk listed him as someone who we could have had. Bummer we didn’t pursue him.

There was some discussion about this in another thread a few weeks ago. About whether BK missed out on so many younger brothers b/c we slow played/under-rated them, or because, basically, after their families got a close-up look at life under BK they didn't really want another kid to go here.
I find the latter a little hard to believe (BK's program wasn't THAT toxic) but the list is pretty notable.

There is a long list of star guys Eichenburg, Simon, Styles, St. Brown just to name a few of the big ones we missed on.

Definitely a guy that messaged recruits and their family. He was one of many basement recruiting gurus that spawned from the Bang Bang Notre Dame Gang Facebook page.

Pretty sure Merck said in his ongoing thread that we missed out on a bunch of younger brothers of previous players because families did not like Kelly or trust him after the older siblings got to campus.
