Piecing things together it appears Mayer had an episode similarly previous to this. I would presume at ND but I don’t remember this ever been brought up

Yeah I don’t recall it being mentioned at all. Could it have been in high school?

Been placed on the non-injury reserve list so out at least the next four games.

Bowers got the Mackey award over him (didn’t think he should have) but it seems obvious that Mayer isn’t get a lot of traction with the Raiders. Would be good for him to get traded imo. Raiders QB situation is a shit show and Mayer will be better utilized elsewhere.

Mayer has always struck me as a class act. He'll take care of himself and do what's best for him.
This is why I’m curious about the current situation. He didn’t have any issues while he was at ND, at least none that I can recall, and always seemed like a level-headed kid. Wish him well.

Tbh I was kinda hoping he’d continue to be underused the rest of the season so LV would be more likely to move him this offseason….
If the Steelers weren't absolutely positively set at TE this would be my hope as well.

Perhaps Vegas can make the 2 TE thing work since Bowers is basically just a big WR and Mayer is a gigachad trad TE

Mayer and Bowers. That's potent. Something to build on.
If you can get the OC to figure it out. Mayer was mostly and afterthought last season in the passing game. His targets and receptions this year are in the same general range. They think of him primarily as a blocker.

Get ready to learn Joe Burrow, buddy

(Mike Gesicki was pretty damn good last year, but Burrow will apparently make any TE look great when defenses are worried about Chase. Adding another option with Erick All still battling bad ACL's might help alleviate some of Tee Higgins' absence, though.)

I'm not surprised; they already have Brock Bowers. I wonder if New England might be interested

Please, send Mayer to his hometown Bengals. It'll give me an excuse to actually get a Bengals jersey  They should have taken him to begin with.
