Oh man. I almost committed there out of HS in the fall of 03 but they didn't have an education program, so that was a deal breaker. Really liked the coach and the facilities though.

Despite all the gnashing of teeth in this thread, it was pointed out that the suspension was ordered by a JUDGE, not the school nor the athletic governing body.

IF this was simply self defense, as the un-informed are whining, it seems somebody didn't do a very good job of explaining that to the judge.

Or perhaps the other guy presented an FBI FISA warrant application in his defense.

Or perhaps the judge used to work for Rivals and is accustomed to downgrading athletes that committed to Notre Dame.

I searched for other articles on a court case but didn't find any. Perhaps HawaiianIrish can locate one.

Personally I'm leaning to a rivals connection.

Small world. In '03 that would have been Coach Devine (Devo we called him). Devo's first season was my senior year and also, no coincidence, the last Tech went to the Series up until 2019. He was in over his head but tried and is a good dude. I think he still might hold the NAIA record for HBP in a season. "WEAR IT!!"

The coach I was referring to was his predecessor, Coach Hershberger. That dude was nuts but knew his baseball and I loved playing for him. I could go on for days telling Hersh stories. Ultimately, he got fired though because he was terrified of flying and never came with us to Lewiston, ID. We'd literally be on the bus to head to the airport and Hersh would just not show up. In '02 the AD finally had enough, along with some other antics I'm sure, and decided to can him. The program hasn't been the same since - from perennial top 10 ranked/WS participants, to not sniffing the WS for 15 years.

Very cool. Hersh certainly knows his pitching, our staffs were always crazy deep with studs. He could just roll arms out one after another. Your son is in good hands.

I have a buddy who coaches for him now. He's building Ivy Tech a program ground up like he did at Tech. I'm not sure what level baseball that is but give him a few years and bet they'll be competing for championships. Hersh is about as old school as they come.

Ivy Tech is a 2 yr school, so he's getting kids who'll have a chance to move on to a 4 yr school. My son isn't getting lesson with Lance anymore, but we see him quite often where my son goes for his lessons.

I know several folks who use hot sauce or sriracha. Also, they make some kind of hot sauce infused honey that's popular on ice cream in Socal. I tried it after about 5 or so infused tequila shots, so my memory of it isn't the best.

While a lot of the opinions are "yikes", I like the Rudy question with all the commits because its exactly as I would expect. Most of the recruits it's once or twice, some of the linemen are 4-5, then Pyne basically says "I grew up with it on in the background my whole life"
