McMillan was just added to the Targets section on II after being removed back when he committed. Loy indicated it was an oversight to remove him in the first place and that he was correcting it. Still, things that make a hopeful poster ponder...

A meaningful note to consider is we’ve been actively recruiting him for months now. So, we aren’t having to start over with this news of Peterson leaving. It’s been ongoing this whole time.

Washington 247 reporting that there's actually some smoke behind the scenes, despite McMillan's tweet. In particular, he's stopped responding in the Washington commits' group chats, and he's stopped responding to contact from Washington beat writers. Apparently he wasn't happy with how the UW offense looked during his official visit https://247sports.com/college/washington/board/102668/contents/recruiting-blog-124-139797922/

The somewhat bad news is that it's not just ND... USC has been getting in his ear too.

There's a lot more at the link, but it's one of those "don't copy and post this anywhere" type deals and I don't want to invite their wrath.

To the above, he’s been actively communicating with the ND staff for months. Whether this goes anywhere remains to be seen but to brush off this recruitment because of that tweet would be silly.

I am happy with who we have and who is coming in.

Let USC have him if he decommits from Washington, Amon-Ra was supposed to be big time and he's been mediocre.

That “3rd string” QB completed 71.8% of his passes for 3,242 yards and 28 TDs with a 167.6 QB rating and set a passing record for most yards in a game with 515. I would take that all day long.

Kelly liked to sit back and not do much recruiting… he wanted to be “the closer.”
Everyone put in all the ground work, then BK can go into the living room before NSD to make a big impression and try to close the deal.

The problem? He hated actually having to come through and do the job when they needed it. Some guys around here can tell you stories about various recruits that are basically the same thing as this McMillan story.

It was a common theme with BK recruiting, and a common theme with trying to close some of the higher-end recruits that actually seemed like culture fits.

Loved BK, love all of the amazing things he did to get ND to annual contention… love that a guy like MFMF got hired to follow and build on that, because a dude like BK wasn’t going to suddenly change into whatever ND needed to get over the hump.

BK would’ve won a natty had he fallen into a QB good enough to do the thing.

MFMF is building off of the BK foundation so well, that they might be able to do it without a true “elite” guy. If they can just land someone “pretty good,” the talent level is rising enough that it may just work out anyway.

Marcus Freeman and all the coaches seem to be on the same page as for recruiting. We've been able to recruit high character guys who are extremely talented. Love each of these coaches but Freeman is one of the best period! He is definitely a huge improvement over the Kelly Era! He is gonna deliver us our 1st championship!!
