No. 1 Safety Brian Williams on Summer Tour and More...

Scout has a recruiting update from Brian Williams who talked about making stops in at Stanford, Texas, UCLA, and Notre Dame this summer.

Brian Williams and his Dallas (Texas) Bishop Dunne teammates enter the 2017 season rated No. 1 in TAPPS Div. I.

"We are just taking it one game at a time, Williams said. "Building as a team, you know we really don't listen too much to the outside information. We are just looking to improve every day and be great."

Williams also enters the season rated No. 1 individually.

In the recent release of the Scout Top 125 the 6-foot-0, 185-pound safety was rated as the No. 1 overall prospect in the state of Texas.

"Every year I am just trying to get better at everything," said Williams who racked up an impressive eight interceptions as a sophomore in 2016. "I know I am not where I want to be yet, and I know it is not going to be awhile until I get there. As long as I work hard and keep competing with my teammates every summer then I am going to get where I need to be."

Williams has a heavy offer list that features schools like Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC.

"I always put schools that have offered before schools that haven't," Williams explained. "I have a lot of offers and I feel like at this point I would only have interest in the teams that have offered me."

This summer Williams worked in trips to Notre Dame, Stanford, UCLA and Texas.

Stanford - "My last unofficial visit was to Stanford," Williams said. "You know I enjoyed it. It is a great program. It's Stanford, so there is nothing that you can say bad about them. They offered a little bit back."

Texas - "They just unveiled their new locker rooms to me when I went up there just a month or so ago It is a real nice place and I have always enjoyed Coach (Craig) Naivar (UT Special Teams Coordinator, Safeties Coach)."

UCLA - "UCLA was great. It is a real nice place. They just got their new facilities as well. They are building something great up there. I really enjoyed it."

Notre Dame - "Notre Dame was a wonderful visit as well. It really is like what they say. It is a real traditional place Everything is really nice. The bricks are all the same. I really enjoyed it."

Williams is the younger brother of running back Rawleigh Williams III, who just had his career cut short at Arkansas due to injury. Rawleigh is a positive ambassador for the Razorbacks, but Brian says that he will have his back no matter where he signs to play in college.

"You know sometimes," Williams said with a laugh when asked if Rawleigh is on him about playing at Arkansas. "But I think that he is letting me do my own thing... enjoy the process and he is always there for me no matter where I go."

As a sophomore in 2016, Williams collected 78 tackles, eight interceptions, a fumble recovery, and scored four touchdowns to earn All-State honors. He reports a 3.9 GPA and is on track to become a National Merit Scholar.

That's a new one in terms of "filler material when discussing the schools you like."

What differentiates ND from your other top schools? New stadium? Touchdown Jesus? Academics? Depth chart? History? Tradition? TV exposure?

Nah, dog. It's the uniform brickwork. Shit's dope.

To the brick thing, I know it sounds funny on it's face, but I actually remember taking note of that same thing when I visited campus the first time applying for colleges. It was one of the last schools I visited, and I remember how strikingly different it was from Texas, Stanford, UCLA, Berkley, etc. because it seemed like the whole campus had a really cool consistency to it instead of being a collection of completely unique buildings or just blending into the surrounding city. I'm pretty sure they even talked about there being a special kind of brick they used during the campus tour. So, it's not the most exciting thing, but it is definitely something different from the other schools he mentioned.

Also, it might be the most specific thing he mentioned in any of those comments so I'll take what we can get.

Hope BK and staff find a way to work the bricks into their sales pitch.

He should talk with Bob Belden then. Belden was a back-up QB for ND in the late 60's (got drafted by the Cowboys with essentially zero CFB playing experience) and is now currently the CEO of Belden Brick, who supplies brick to ND for most of the campus projects.

Do it Brian, come to ND. Harbaugh the Greater will make you a legendary Safety; he can do that

Per TV, Williams might be the overall #1 target on ND's board, regardless of class. Elko is in constant communication and called him from the field prior to the Temple game. ND/Stanford, more so that UT.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Williams is a phenomenal prospect; Jamie at ISD claimed that he was the best prospect at Irish Invasion over the years. And to be honest, the highest guys on the board atm don't seem to be at huge areas of need, minus ASB.

So if a guy is the #1 safety (5* - Comp #7 OA) at 6-0, 185 lbs... why isn't he a CB? Is this Jeff Okudah 2.0?

That reminds me of holtzs boy who would call recruits during the game and ask if they could see him on tv
