Nice. Gotta love his film. Gotta love his desire to play at ND too.

Gonna be REAL interesting to see how the depth chart works out in the near future. There's a LOT of LB's in the room now.

Kiser to RB? I'm kidding... I think.

Loy getting hit hard in the comment section asking if it's a scholarship or PWO.

It’s pretty obvious, I’m not sure why some are having such a hard time reading between the lines.

Congratulations and welcome to ND, JD. Very excited to have you as a part of this class.

None of the articles mentioned it either way, nor did any reference scholarship numbers for the class which I thought was interesting. If it still stays quite I wonder if its a situation where we tell him he gets the first scholarship should one open, but if not he'll take the PWO, so they don't want to publicly commit to it one way or another in case the situation changes. We also haven't gotten the bat signal yet.

If he is getting a scholarship, I think its worth it. I loved his film. Looked like he had great instincts and really epitomized the mantra of running through the ball carrier.

All the PWO talk is funny. This is a 4 star linebacker!

Obviously staff know several are leaving

I'm uber happy to have him whatever the situation is. Kid is an Eagle Scout for goodness sake lol! Need to go back and watch his film, but what I saw earlier was nice. Love the recruiting efforts in GA.

I agree for the most part. The thing that bothers a bit, is why they just don't say PWO from the get go. Kid has offers from FL, FSU, LSU, Wiscy, Stan, MissSt, UT, etc.. so I don't see this as a "pride" thing. He's a stud with big time offers, and doesn't have to "settle". I just don't see what benefit there is in keeping it cloudy. And if we know is spot is opening soon, then why be cloudy at all. It's not like they have to be at a certain number by next week or tag spots to people. And TBH, besides a few at II who I respect, a few others have been known to over reach and be very wrong. So it's not like everyone takes them as gospel. Just two weeks ago they were claiming Book would be out for Syracuse (from their "best" sources)

There is where I'm at on this too. Maybe the reporters are just being vague to cover their own butts because they don't actually know if he has a scholarship or not.

Why does it matter, right now, if he’s a pwo or has an offer? We just got a 4 star linebacker out of Georgia. That’s pretty sweet.

I feel like too many members are reading too far into the situation. He wants to be at ND and wants to play with Hamilton and Wallace. He was told there wasn't room but if a spot came open, he'd be given a scholarship. He's willing to role the dice in hopes that a spot comes open. All of this is also assuming Foskey is Irish because, well, he's basically made the staff think it's when and not if.

Nobody knows how the spots will pan out and anyone offering premium info saying they do is lying. Between two medical spots, transfers that won't be clear until after the season, NFL departures that won't be clear until after the season, and the possibility of an academic casualty, anything can happen.

Bertrand will end up with a scholarship at some point early in his ND career.

some talking heads rely too much on art than science lol... art gets more clicks.

I don't care because I think he is awesome, but I just want to know haha. Its such an intriguing situation that I need an answer.

i don't care either. incredibly happy to have him and have been high on him in this thread all along. i won't pretend not to be interested in the back story, or for questioning things (talking heads) that don't make a lot of sense to me.

Very nice addition. This Georgia strategy is paying off. A 4 star from the heart of SEC country. Welcome aboard kid.

He'll probably get it after one semester. If he is a PWO I think he gets all the same benefits (lifting, training table, summer enrollment) as a scholarship athlete, just not the money. So if he is from a family that can afford the tuition for one semester, its not a bad option if he really wants to play here. Its not like we recruited over him and then dropped this on him late; he got back into the process once we already had guys in his spot and limited scholarship spots.

Wouldn't be surprised IF they can find an academic scholarship for a semester or 2 to offset some of the tuition costs until a "full ride" athletic scholarship kicks in!?

I like the pickup.

Anyone have an idea of what spot is opening up? A decommit? Someone leaving early that probably shouldn't? Or are there some guys not getting asked back for a 5th year that we thought would?
