Appreciate the context gentlemen, makes perfect sense.

I don't usually watch the Senior Bowl, as Grahambo said it just reminds me of a Pro Bowl and it doesn't interest me. I'm sure the practices are much more valuable for these guys than the game itself.

I don't know, I think Foskey will do pretty well for himself at the combine. Mayer, OTOH...
Agree with Foseky, I predict he'll really help himself with his combine.

I think the Meyer thing is a little blown out of proportion, because most scouts already have him as "below average" athletically. So, if his testing results surprise anyone, are they really that good at their job, considering he's currently projected top 20? It shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody.

On the flip side, when teams start interviewing him and getting to know him, they'll likely love the kid even more, maybe offsetting the boost. (that should apply for Foskey as well, both are great leaders and high character dudes).

Idk that he'll Mayer will go top 15, but if he drops to the late first round, what an absolute steal for that franchise. Foskey will go late first, IMO.

Could be a mistake by Kiper

Or

Could be that he thinks someone will reach for Foskey based upon team needs despite Kiper not viewing Foskey as being in the top 30 based on his evals

FTR, not saying I agree with this elevator analysis the scouts seem to have for him. but he isn't going to run the fastest 40 time, we all know that. But I think people put too much stock on how fast players can run in their freaking underwear, anyways.

How do they play with the pads on 11v11? that's all that matters, and Mayer is the best to ever do it in a ND uniform, period.

Kiper, like just about all draft gurus, says his personal rankings are independent of where he thinks players will be drafted. He might have a DT ranked number 1 and his #1 QB ranked at 10th best player overall but still have the QB drafted 1st because of team need. That's how he does it and it's how it should be done.

Yep. Just like Mayer may be one of the 15 best players in the draft but fall to the 2nd round because he’s a tight end and that’s not a priority position in the draft. Not his fault. But that’s the breaks.

How do we even know that he won’t run a fast 40 time? These guys train for it. And remember, Brock Wright ran a 4.60. How many expected that?

I mostly agree with your overall point, but Wright's 40 time was from his pro day. He wasn't invited to the combine. Pro-day 40 times and combine 40 times are normally different for a variety of reasons - different surfaces being run on, different timing methods, and more relaxed starting positions.

I'm not saying Mayer won't run a decent 40 time. I hope he does, but I hope the scouts prioritize his overall athleticism, toughness, and route running and blocking skills. He's 2nd to none in those areas (even if he could improve his blocking skills).

This is a case of don’t overthink it. Watch his film. The man is a stud football player whether or not he wins the underwear Olympics.

I get the joke, but on the real side of things Ryan Hayes is rated by some sites as better draft prospect than Patterson or Alabama's Okefor.

So, the point being, good on for Foskey.

He set him up nicely. Made him think he's going outside, then takes it directly to him so Hayes is off balance. Nicely done Mr. Foskey.

Any more clips out there of good reps? Cause there’s more than a couple not-so-good if you’re looking.

I didn't see any bad clips of Foskey, including the ones above. The only one that comes close is the one where he dives at Dewand Jones. He was still hustling on that play and Jones was stonewalling everyone all day. And the block by Patterson is good for Patterson, but it wasn't bad for Foskey. They weren't in full pads, there was no tackling, and Foskey was a DE trying to meet a runner running up the middle. He did fine considering.

DLs aren't expected to win every rep, especially when they aren't in full pads.

Dewand Jones might’ve been the most impressive player on the field yesterday.

Was hoping Pittsburgh could get him at 32, but they might have to take him at 17.

Disagree on this. This type of drill heavily favors the Defensive Line as there are no other OL/TE/RB trying to block them if they pull off an unrealistic inside spin move or wide arcing outside rush. It's a totally unrealistic drill IMO
