That's not really how college football works though. You'll never get an apples to apples comparison between teams. There's too many contributing factors. Is Clemson looking ahead and disregarded BC, who relishes the spoiler role? Will Clemson's new QB be better settled and prepared with a full week to prepare? What if they find a way to insert Lawrence (I could see them pulling it off, especially if they come back against BC) There's just too many factors like game plans, motivation, weather, injuries (reported and unreported), etc that can vary week to week.
We crushed Iowa State in that bowl game, but State lost to three teams last year by something like a combined 5 points...one of which was a highly rated OU team. Does that mean we were head and shoulders better than OU? Doubtful, but the chips fell our way and led to a blowout. That's college football.
