If Book gets ND into the Playoffs which means beating Clemson once, bringing him back and not giving Phil the program in '20 (and losing him) worked out.

Otherwise, giving Phil the team in a throw away year to cut his teeth would have been ideal for runs in '21 & '22.

But the '20 roster is built to take a shot now and deserved that shot. The Covid deranged schedule just makes it more better.

If ND loses to Clemson and doesn't make the CFP or the ACC Championship game while Phil turns into Big Ben 2.0, that will be tough to watch. . . especially if Clark / Buchner are Bookish.

But there's hope! When Saban pulls another Saban and goes to Bryce Young, Mac Jones will GT to the Irish and lead them to the NC!

Wait, Book is coming back for Year 6. Forget the Mac Jones bit.

Has more completions if 30+ yards in the first 5 minutes than Book will have in the entire game against Clemson. Book it

Watching this is frustrating so far. He’s playing without fear thus far. Something Book struggles with frequently. I’m not saying it’ll be great all game, but as the previous poster mentioned-already way better than we did last time. I hope we perform better offensively this year than the last time, but very little I’ve seen from Book gives me any confidence that’ll occur.

MANY on this board. I’m reserving judgment, but I’m certainly in the “wish we gave him an actual shot in games” camp. Too bad Phil didn’t put more time in film room.

Yeah and we don’t know he may have committed himself to film study when he moved on because he was promised starting job.

BTW on that last drive by Phil he was a little reckless with the ball.

I really want Clemson to pull this game off. But..... it’s looking UGLY.
We need them undefeated with Scooby’s friend healthy... So when we curb stomp them we get the credit.

(Btw). If Ian won us the ship would we overlook his use of the green stuff too?? Naaaaa

Agree wasn’t really a bad throw or anything. But the call on Clemson on roughing the passer that negates the pick was horrific.
