Useless is right, it’s a complete joke. The only difference was Lawrence and Daniels kept getting chances to make plays. Lawrence had 2 TO’s before Phil had 1, could’ve been 3, lol.

I hear Pennsylvania HS football is good too. Much better prep than Hawaii.

yup. i truly expect PJ to be getting PT by game 2 if he is what we expect.
that is unless BW gets whispered too by Peyton Manning or Book turns into Tom Brady.

So we're all in agreement that ND/BK need to handle Jurkovec exactly like Saban handled Tua, right? As long as Jurkovec doesn't show up and VERY CLEARLY need a redshirt year?

Bama sprinkled Tua in all year, and not just at the end of games, to get him adjusted to the speed of the game and get him developmental reps, without putting a bunch of weight on his shoulders early.

Then, when it's clear that Hurts isn't the passer they need in the biggest game of the year, Tua was developed enough to make plays.

Of course, ND doesn't also have a bunch of 5-star RB's and 5-star WR's to fall back on, but the idea should be the same: Get Phil some reps throughout the year, and not just when Wimbush or Book are playing bad. Get him reps in the middle of a game, in regular situations, not just when you have a big lead. Get him ready with normal, standard reps here-and-there.

Jake Fromm was an EE, which is like being a sophomore compared to Phil.

What true freshman, non-EE has come in and been successful at the P5 level?

Doesn't need to be successful, just better than our current options.

But really I agree.

Man I wish Phil didn't like basketball so much

Could he have been an EE anyway? I know I' a fan of ND, but I, for one, enjoy the fact that he is pretty good at basketball and wants to keep playing as a senior in high school. You only get to do it once...

I'm a basketball guy aaaaaaand screw basketball after you've signed. Time to be a grown up, drop the silly hobbies and go to work. After an NC game decided by two EE QB's, the Top 5 HS QB's going to CFP caliber teams need to understand that fact and report in Jan.

As I stated before, could he EE anyway? Was he on track to graduate early? If so, yeah he probably should have EE'd. If not, let the young man play basketball.

He committed in May of 2016. If you can't graduate early from a public school with 20 month lead time, you <strike>probably</strike> don't belong at ND academically.

This is the only red flag I have about The Franchise. ND Football should have come before HS... anything.

Somehow missed this. I remember it being spun that it was Sanford that got Phil to lean towards ND. This says he was leanin' much earlier than that.

Those jerseys you give 4 year olds have ramifications. Luckily my 6 and 4 year old kids are already brainwashed into ND and Sox fandom.

Love to see lifelong ND fans getting to don the gold helmet

Kid appears to have it all. I’m really excited for him to get onto campus. One position I’m not the least bit concerned going forward is QB. Between Wimbush, Book and PJ, the Irish have a lot of good options. Phil seems to be the one with all of the tools though and I sure hope he gets onto the field at some point next year.

By the way, Phil’s mom’s pretty hot too.

Reminds me of Gronk when he's interviewed. No jade in his game, still has that Christmas morning attitude towards the game. Hope neither ever loses it.

Weird they called him 6'2" in that clip. I always assume players are shorter than listed (6'5" for Phil), but I bet he's taller than 6'2".

Dude just made a mistake. He's all of 6-5. The picture below has him, Trevor Lawrence who's listed at 6-6 and Jaren Williams who's listed at 6-2.
