Happy for Sanford, but still 100% Irish

Wasn't worried. A while back Jurkovec said that he wouldn't flip if the golden some itself fell over.

IMO, the only way he doesn't come is if we fire Kelly after next year AND hire some guy that runs an offense that doesn't fit him at all.

Agree 100%.. He seems to love the school and the offense.. Only thing that could spook him IMO is firing Kelly then hiring an option coach or a coach who Qb's run it 90% of the time

Our future QUARTERBACK throwing it down with ease.

That is no good. Obviously, if he can't make a one-handed slam, his hands are too small to hold a football and he will probably have fumbling issues. Guess we have to keep looking for a QB!!!

Updated the OP for the first time since the start of the '16 HS season. Phil's R&R's took a little hit with his injury but Loy just called him a 5 star so it sounds like 247 is going to give him his ceremonial 5th star... he's ranked #12 nationally and that's a 5 star in everyone's rankings.

One weird thing I just saw:

Rivals moved Dorian Thompson-Robinson ahead of him at Dual Threat QB. (#2 vs #3) DTR will be the starter at Bishop Gorman this year. He's never started a HS game and my guess is he won't play QB in college, he'll play WR. Sorry Rivals but you're full of sh!t.

Here's Phil's Jr stats: (6 games)

104/167 ... 1673yd ... 278ypg ... 12TD ... 2INT ... 82car ... 484yd ... 8TD

I heard through the grapevine (not a premium recruiting site) that Jurkovec will be attending the PSU Blue/White game. Any concern here?

Of course. How can you not be concerned when the #1 QB in the country (for ND's needs) is at his in state school who happens to have the best class in the country at the moment?

Did they say he would be their guest or just attending with no program contact?

Worried that he might not play due to Drew Brees 2.0 (according to Crus) coming in '19? Staff needs to keep Phil in the class.

I haven't seen this confirmed anywhere outside of old posts about potential visitors to their spring game from when he was still an uncommitted prospect.

Honestly, he's been to a lot of schools and chose ND. He didn't make a rash decision or continue to do "Top 5" lists and stuff. I'm not worried.

I would definitely love to have Phil, and one in the hand is worth two in the bush, but given the choice between the two, I'd take Daniels over Jurkovec. Now I'd rather have Phil stay committed now, but I don't think that Daniels comes if Jurkovec stays committed

He's arguably the best QB in the country and will have a year ahead of any kid for a position where pretty much everyone needs a redshirt, with a coach that values system experience to a debilitating level. I don't care how good the '19 kid is, no 5 star '18 QB should consider him.

Thinking about this though -- PSU is stockpiled with young QBs and has another an elite kid committed to their 2018 class (not to mention another good recruit in the 2017 class). Probably not anything to be TOO concerned about.

Maybe this is wishful thinking on my part... but maybe Phil is going to recruit another Penn State commitment on our benefit? Maybe a 5* seriously considering Notre Dame who's been getting a lot of buzz on this board recently?

Not that crazy. Can't remember exact details, but a Texas commit got kicked out of an Arkansas event two years back when staff realized he was only there to talk kids into Texas.

I feel like USC has a plant every other year when they are in town and we have a bunch of visitors lol

Why would he visit when they have a top 60 player committed at QB position. Sounds like your psu buddy fed you some shit

Yup. Or guys like Theus for Georgia. In general, I root for these guys to fail, because I find going on an OV to recruit for another school pretty unethical.

Right... but if you're inviting a guy who's been committed to another school to official visit to your program... that's your chickens coming home to roost IMO, if it happens, it happens. Its a risk you take on by having another school's commit OV
