Koon how do you feel now about Lenzy transferring?

After he scored his 70 yd. TD I heard he said into the camera I ain't transferring Koon!

I am with luckylucci on this one...the fanbase on this board...go outside and get some fresh air.

Forget a source, but this is my own personal feeling. If anyone transfers it will be Austin.

I mean whether or not it was his intent, that can definitely be taken as a jab at Kelly. Bad optics at least here.

Or maybe people (fans, friends, opposing players, etc.) were mocking him for fatigue and his jab is at them with his play on Saturday...

Lenzy might be in the dog house after Brian Kelly's reaction to his comment that he thought he "might get the play call because the ball was near midfield" on his 61 yard TD. A good talking to at the very least. Starts at 4:30.

I remember McKinley saying something like this earlier in the year on his ridiculous catch/run TD and we have barely seen him since. I hope its not the same case but even giving a little bit of their gameplan to the media is definitely a big no no!

I see that as a big nothing burger. Kelly will tell him hey, don’t say that. Lenzy should say yeah sorry coach., and then it’s over.

I watched the presser live. Kelly's face said it all. He had a quick "jerk reaction" look and then pulled back in and tried to downplay it.

"you guys actually believe him? He doesn't even know the snap count half the time (joking tone). I can tell it's his first time with the media because you guys are already taking him too serious"

But, yeah, you can tell Kelly didn't want it said... I doubt he'll "put him in the dog house" but he'll have a talk with Lenzy for sure. (as Kelly should) no need to get into the play book /scheme /etc

I just watched. This would be somewhere between a 0 and a 1 on a scale from 1 to "what are you thinking!".

Kelly clearly didn't care.

The fact that Lenzy has confirmed that he needed to take a week and get himself physically right because of his lack of sleep just goes to show the crap that the staff has to deal with for some of these guys. If you do your job, you'll play early. Somehow Hamilton has managed to avoid the doghouse despite being young and an elite athlete.

I'm pretty excited about Lenzy going forward. He appears to have turned a corner. He's got a burst we haven't seen since Fuller.

Lenzy, sprinkle in some Jordan Johnson and Tyree, add in some healthy Kevin Austin, with Kmet and Tremble coming back with the addition of Mayer and Bauman and ooooh weeeeeh boyyy we gon' have us an offensive 'splosion!

Now let me burst all y'all's bubbles!

At this point 2 years into Lenzy's time in South Bend, he has 339 yds from scrimmage and 4 TD's.

During the first 2 years of CJ Sanders time in South Bend, he had 315 yds from scrimmage and 6 TD's.

Something wicked this way comes...

Koon! Koon! Koon! Koon! Koon! Koon! Koon!

I think the difference between Sanders and Lenzy is that Sanders was beat out by Finke for the Slot position, while Lenzy is biding his time now that Finke is graduating. We've seen his production increase at the end of the season here, Kelly is probably trying to see what life after Finke is like. Don't really know about Keys, but I would have to think Lenzy has to feel good about where he's at with this team right now.

Now let me burst your bubble and state that Braden Lenzy red shirted his first year and CJ Sanders did not.

I seem to recall Claypool having some maturity issues his first year or two as well - coaches talking about “traits” - and he turned out OK.

Oh yeah!?! Well let me re-burst your bubble and remind you CJ was technically an offensive redshirt his freshman year. He had 0 yards of offense. All of his yards from scrimmage came in his Soph year like Lenzy.

CJ Sanders might have kept developing if he had Book throwing to him, but he was caught in the wash of that first Wimbush season which included not much good medium passing.

Let's burst ALL the bubbles and say that Lenzy was on the field for a bunch of snaps against Navy outside of his long TD, and was on the field for even MORE snaps against BC. He was the primary outside guy opposite Claypool most of the game, and I bet we see even more of it against Stanford since he'll be comfortable playing on the West Coast and is getting plenty of sleep now.

Didn't Sanders have a hard time taking care of the football though? I distinctly remember a momentum swinging fumble at home against MSU in 2016. And IIRC he had other issues.

Lenzy (knock on wood) hasn't had said issues yet.
