Sampson mentioned on podcast Long's pitch to Smith was he wants three RB's ready to play every week. Also said Smith is a very bright, quiet kid who shies away from the media which is why his recruitment and visit to ND went virtually unknown.

Missed his 4th game with an injury but had 205 yards rushing and 2 TD's in game 5. Strong 'yards after contact' runner who is under the radar on many sites.

Follows blocks well, good cuts and lateral agility, looks to have some good explosiveness, too. Runs through tackles, tough to bring down. Doesn't seem to have "burner" speed, but more than enough to outrun opponents. Also, seems to carry the ball a little loose sometimes, ala Shady McCoy.

Overall, looks like a solid prospect. He enrolls early, too. We have a logjam at RB, even if Adams does leave, so not too sure what role he would have as a freshman. Too early to tell.

Kid is a bell cow. Aslong as he can stay healthy he can carry the load. He is also smart and will be able to pickup pass pro fast.
