Moved this over from the 2017 Master List:

2018 4 star LB Dax Holifield, who has fairly recently visited ND, told Rivals that he really wants an offer from Notre Dame, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Not sure what the hold up is on this one. Appears to check all the boxes.

Staff was in NC to see him for a couple of days earlier this month. Read that he's looking to visit ND again early this summer.

Hope he gets to Irish Invasion. This year's II is going to be one of the greatest recruiting events ever.

Whoa......Incredible pursuit. Very good speed, smarts, sniffs everything out, Hits through ball carriers. At the college level, he'll have to learn to use his hands more to shed blocks as he simply drops his shoulder and knocks kids back in HS, but in college that won't fly. He looks like he'll be a good one though.

I chose not to post my thoughts on him yesterday because it was 100% Debbie Downerish. Thank goodness.

He got a Bama and an FSU offer yesterday. In the past week he got an LSU and the most dreaded Stanford offer.

If I'm an assistant coming into ND the first thing I do is take my wish list and match it up to ND's contact/visit info in their profiles. Dax Hollifield came from NC to SB to see ND play Navy. He didn't do that by accident. He is also an ultra productive player... obviously with grades. If I was Elko, I would have called him from the Winston-Salem Airport and offered him, just before I took off for SB. Let him know... "the first thing I did when I took the job, before I even got to ND was offer you Dax. You are job 1."

This was my first criticism of Elko and Lea but they pulled the trigger. So keep your fingers crossed. Maybe ND will finally get a Kuechley afterall.

Notre Dame seems to be in it for some darned good LB's. Considering they all ready have Bauer and Ovie, ND should get a very impressive LB haul in the end. Too bad our '18 class is so small. Numbers are going to be tight but you know how it goes. Things always change

I get what you're saying, but even though he's a lameduck HC, he has to clear that through BK first.

Just watched his highlights for the first time. He has very good field awareness and is able to diagnose the play quickly. Not a quick first step, but he's up to full speed almost immediately. Really like how he finds the holes almost unmolested. Reminds me of Manti at that age.

Numbers are always tight until 3-4 guys get the boot for academics, 2-3 get arrested, 2-3 retire from concussions.

Leading up to this month, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and South Carolina have been the only real contenders for Hollifield. Now that offers from Penn State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Florida State, Stanford, and LSU have come in, things could change. All of these offers are potential game-changers, but the one that could carry the most weight is the Notre Dame offer. Hollifield build a pretty good relationship with Mike Elko while Elko was the defensive coordinator at Wake Forest.
