Anyone criticizing this verbal doesnt understand ND. You cant have ND players leave early PERIOD. The goal is to find people who want to be on the team and use max eligibility. We have 4 stars transferring every year it seems, guys leaving a year too soon..its no wonder why we cant have a consistent team.

That’s not a problem unique to ND. In fact, we lose less players to early departure less than other traditional powers.

You can’t recruit lesser players because they will be more likely to stay for four years. Not saying Paul is a lesser player (I’m not a huge fan of his game but what do I know), but I am saying that a player’s intention to stay 4-5 years would mean nothing to me as I evaluate players if I was an ND coach. Can they play? Can they fit in at ND? Can they handle the academics? That’s it (basically). There are plenty of excellent players that fit that criteria...just gotta win more games and get after it on the campaign trail. And if they are studs like Jaylon Smith and they give us three awesome years and then leave early? I wouldn’t celebrate that they would be leaving, but it would be completely fine by me.

In reality we need a blend of both. Just need to do a better job of being prepared for those early departures by not having recruiting gaps.

My post is more about getting the people who want to be in South Bend. Talent is everywhere, got to find people you can coach and believe in the process. Best player on a lot of teams in the nfl arent five star players. Some people have the will and some others coast like max redfield did here.

I think you need a blend of both. Some guys love ND and that’s fine but I’m thinking I want guys who are pissed if they are not starting. Last thing you want is guys who are just happy being a backup for 4-5 seasons and hope to play a bit. You’re gonna have some guys who want to play real bad and will leave if they can’t get that chance. Sometimes it doesn’t mean they’re not good enough, just means they didn’t fit for our coaching staff.

im sure most people would have thought drue tranquil would have been a max eligibility never leave ND type of kid, especially considering the injuries. But here he is most likely forgoing a year of eligibility to try and get drafted.

He had it set at 7/10's and running at the speed of his entourage.

If Moala can do anything, it's return punts. He's a special teams savant.

But yes, he looked like he was running in wet boots.

Too funny...I didn't want to post anything negative about his speed so I laid off. Maybe more of a LB vs Safety?

He was kind of off balanced the majority of the run.

Didn't he run a 4.5 sec 40 yard 2 times at ND for the coaches?

Nobody in that entire play (Gunners in coverage) looked to be running that fast.

He's plenty athletic. He got an offer because he was running 4.5's for the staff at Invasion.

If you watch his highlights you'll see that he never outruns the blocking flow. I forget how many return TD's he had, might have been 10.

With the new defense I feel like ND is going to have to almost over recruit the S spot because a few of these guys are gonna end up at Rover and with a possibilty of some even growing into a buck like genmark heath.

If that's true we should probably stop recruiting the Rover position for a couple year since that'd be like 15 guys at the position.

Assuming he’s OK in that sling, any chance Moala shifts back to safety now that Allen’s gone?
