Don't forget Hawaiian WR Robby Toma on offense too
Generally he was considered a throw in for getting Manti, but the kid had a decent ND career

Robby was one of the best WRs in Hawaii, their senior year. He was just small.

The same can be said about Kanawai Noa (currently at Cal.) He was a tremendous receiver, just too small to get national recognition.

I really don't know how good Penn is, but to beat Carmel that handily they have to be pretty good. On the other hand, BD looks like the real "real deal" this year. They pretty much throttled everybody including Warren twice. The scores they beat Warren, Carmel, Center Grove and Avon by are some serious butt kickings against quality opponents.

I followed the WC playoff game and WC was up at half and it was tied until late in the 4th. But besides that, they stomped everyone. This team is drawing comparisons to those Warren Central teams of the '00's.

Penn is good and they have a good secondary which makes things happen but Ben Davis has speed everywhere. I would have taken Taylor and Adams in this class in a heartbeat and they have a 6-2 WR named Thompson who is probably going to end up at a P5. He's committed to Ball St right now but he's got P5's sniffing all around.

What a pasting (63-14) by BD in the CG. That is probably the biggest margin recorded in the 5A or 6A game. BD coach said this was by far the most talented team he has ever coached. They may be the best ever in the state.

I think I heard on the radio they were ranked #6 in the country prior to this game.

Yeah they are #6 on Maxpreps. I luckily got all of the Indiana and Michigan state championship games on my TV via Roku and the Fox Sports Go app. This game came on about 30 min before the Stanford game unfortunately. Dick Dullagan who won 4-5-6 state championships at Ben Davis 10-15 years ago said most feel this is the best BD team ever and only one of the Warren Central teams of the 00's was probably it's equal... or something along those lines.

As per the game, Ben Davis is fast fast fast. They basically play 7v7 with 4 extra guys.
Rees Taylor is as good of a HS football player as you could ask for. If he was 6-2, he'd be ranked alongside Emory Jones, Justin Fields & Phil. His numbers are really, really close to Phil's. Johnny Adams is a 1400 yard RB that's still committed to Ball St w/ Cal pushing and Broc Thompson is probably the most underrated player in the state. I could see a P5 stealing him from Ball St before Feb.

As for Moala... Paul Moala needed 5 more Paul Moala's to compete with them. But so did everyone else in Indiana. I missed the first 5 min of the game at it was already 21-0. Going to look up the game wrap up today to see what happened.

The game before it was great. Undefeated 4A Lowell was the state leader in offense and defense and had beaten a couple of 6A DAC schools and they lose to a 3 loss East Central which... is the next school district up from Milan... and you know where I'm going with that fellow old timer.

I don't know how much Paul Moala is going to play at ND. ND is really going to be loaded at safety soon but I'd bet IT ALL if he were a Jr. right now, he'd be the best safety ND has on the field.

Ben Davis played its best competition in its sectional -- Warren Central and Lawrence Central.

IFCA has a pretty gnarly proposal to present to the IHSAA regarding:
1) Instituting a mercy rule
2) Seeding the top two teams in each sectional (1A-4A) based on Sagarin.

5A/6A would be completely changed from what this article states.

What needs to be done is set up a 7A for schools 3000 students and up.

Carmel, Ben Davis & Warren Central win every state championship because they have 5000, 4700 and 3700 students. Why does Valpo with 2000 students have to play Carmel?

IHSAA members should vote any school over 3000 out of the Association. Let them start the Indiana Mega High School Athletic Association. That's the only reason those rich folks in Carmel are cramming 5000 students into one school, to compete for state championships. As soon as their kids go to college they'll worry about student-teacher ratios.

Nothing special or great just a football player whose gonna go balls to the wall every play. Reminds me a little of James Onawulu defensive film in HS

I see so many of these DB's who are supposed to be 4* who don't create turnovers & don't score defensively. This guy is a ballhawk. Without looking, he had something like 15 Int's in his HS career, 5 Pick 6's and 5 KR/PR TD's. Guys who are expected to be difference makers at the p% level better be playermakers in HS.

And Elko claimed he ran a sub 4.5 at Invasion. If I remember correctly, the only players he reported that ran quicker times were Johnny Adams and Isaac Guerendo.

He coming in with some seriuos dudes and probably more dudes behind him but there's little doubt he's the kind of guy that makes ST click and if he was a Jr right now, I'd bet he'd be starting over either safety ND has now.

I never once said he couldn't play. I wish nothing but awesomeness for Paul. This isn't a John Turner experiment because he ran a good 40 at the II. Paul can play football

I'll take field awareness over athleticism.

Question is, if Houston Griffith, Kyler Gordon, Julius Irvin, and Noah Boykin want in? Do you regret taking Moala? Do you take all four and have 19 scholarship DBs next season (without Watkins)? Or do you turn one of those 4 away?

The only problem is that Griffith and Irvin are both corners that could be safeties. Paul is a Safety which we need. I would have preferred that Either Griffith or Irvin be pure corners but they are very good players.

Funny enough, these are the guys I think we've had much more success with at the safety position.

Anyone criticizing this verbal doesnt understand ND. You cant have ND players leave early PERIOD. The goal is to find people who want to be on the team and use max eligibility. We have 4 stars transferring every year it seems, guys leaving a year too soon..its no wonder why we cant have a consistent team.
