Hats off to the staff. They put in work and a lot of miles on this one. They deserved to get him.

Even Todd Lyght. Sometimes you don't have to be the best salesman if you're willing to put in the effort to make someone feel important.

FSU shitting the bed this year is probably the real clincher here tbf

Yeah, that opened the door. But we capitalized and a lot of other staffs who would love to have him didn't.

We had our foot in the door and kicked it down. We visited him like 4 times in Florida over 2 weeks time.

So safety or CB? Or both? Driskell believes he has elite upside at safety. A safety duo of Allen and Griffith would be hard to pass up, but I'm interested to see what he has at CB.

the edit ND made for him said Safety, but seems like with bringing two for sure safeties in this class plus Gillman being eligible that ND can afford to put him at CB for now.

yeah but include the coaching change and the falling apart of their class due to their 2017 record. Folks on ISD said "playing for a winner" is a big deal to Griffith.

Coaching change I buy. But calling ND a winner, and implying FSU is not, is something I personally would not do, especially in light of 2016.

kids have short term memories. look at the class that joined after the 2012 season. a bunch of those guys didn't really "get" ND beyond seeing the winning record.

Jamie U raved about Griffith as a CB at the Opening. Where he was 1 on 1 covering some pretty special athletes. Alontae Taylor and Tommy Bush to name a couple. He thinks he can play CB at a high level in college.

However, even his HS coach moved him to S some this year. So, I'd bet they start him at CB in the Spring, which is the perfect time to get him some run there. And then go from there.

Either way, this is a huge win for ND.

I think it was more of a question of whether ND was headed in a downward spiral, and 2017 righted the ship.

On the other hand, 10-12 win per year FSU came down to earth.

Signed and is an EE. I can't link twitter from work so if someone could help a brotha out, that'd be great.

Huge that he's joining them in Jan. The EE's in this class could be impactful next season.

HOUSTON GRIFFITH
The situation: The Notre Dame signee has been a fixture on the national scene over the past year, climbing up the rankings all the way to No. 35 overall. His season at IMG Academy should have him more than ready to compete in Orlando.

Farrell’s take: “Griffith has the length, size and quickness to be special. We just want to see more explosion to the football and better coverage ability when he’s in one-on-one situations. He has a chance to be special, and if he puts it all together during the week he’s one of the guys I could see soaring up the rankings.”
