How many years of (possible) eligibility are available for Kevin at this point? (not sure what qualifies or doesn't)

Good deal. Wasn't sure if year 1 counted as a red-shirt year or not.

Technically 2019 would’ve been a red shirt year. I think of “5 years to play 4” when figuring out how much eligibility someone has left. So for Kevin Austin....

2018: Played. Even though he played in 4 or fewer games, you can’t have 2 red shirt years so 2018 counted towards eligibility.

2019: redshirt
2020-22: available

It was mentioned in at least one if not two of the podcasts I listen to. Irish Illustrated. B&G and sometimes Irish Maven.

II said the football program worked their butts off to get the university to allow KA to play but it was to no avail

Honestly who's surprised that something bad has happened? Happens every summer

Expected to play this year but we were expecting big things. Any medical "experts" care to chime in on the length they believe it will take?

The article says to expect 1 to 2 games out. Honestly seems like the biggest problem is that this is yet more practice time missed.

This sucks, I would have put him near the top of the roster for guys who I grant injury immunity to.

Jordan Johnson, come on down.

Really sucks, but this might give some younger guys a chance to step up and also makes Skowronek even more important.

I'd expect a quick recovery, but missed reps is the real damage here.

Brutal. Hoping for a speedy recovery. He's going to be a star if he can get on the field.

Better it happens now than a month from now a I guess. Still gives me a sad though...I'm excited to see what this young man can do on the field.

Very few guys make it through a college career without an injury. If you think this is going to be your career, you can’t waste two years trying to learn how to get out of your own way.

With the inexperience at WR, we better focus on the run blocking and the stable of backs. Establish a strong running game this year again!

I always cringe when I see a player's profile bumped.

They don't. This happens to every team. We have 85 players and we expect them all to stay healthy?

There was only one year where I felt like the injury bug really hit us hard (especially during longos last years). Otherwise we have been pretty lucky (knock on wood) the last few years honestly. Think of Clemson whose WR may not be able to play football ever again.

What hurts us, are suspensions. Frozen 5, Folsom, aliz’e, Holmes, dex, etc. But I really think our team has gotten better with regards to that as well. Becoming disciplined. And I think that has a lot to do with Balis. I saw a video with Balis talking about responsibility and what not. It hit me hard and I wasn’t even there. I really think your weight coach makes a huge difference because he is around the guys all year. Whereas the position coaches etc. are limited.

For perspective, on the quick side of recovery if the 10/3 date remains open:

-FSU on 10/10 would be 9.5 weeks post op, and he would only miss 2/3 games.

Or it is full recovery plus conditioning and rust from lack of game reps since November 2018.

-Clemson on 11/7 would be 13.5 weeks post op
