Hmm. He could've listened to the advice of his coaches at ND and returned for another season. Merp.

Saw some comments from the non-ND Jags crowd on how he was pretty terrible in camp. Put in the work kids - you aren't as amazingly unique as your 3 year letter winner junior league coaches think.

The only person who didn’t listen to the advice that there are a hundred more polished Kevin Austins in the NFL was Kevin Austin.

He should have grad transferred somewhere if he just really didn’t want to stick around for another year in South Bend.

Thinking back, he probably figured his draft stock was never going to get any higher. Coan, the pure passer, was going to be gone for 2022. There will likely be a drop off in the passing game, although we can hope that the improved OL will help with Buchner's development. It's not so much shitting on someone as calling a spade a spade. Austin had great speed, but he was a very raw talent. He needed to work on his separation and hands, otherwise he stood little chance of making a roster. There's lots of fast players in the NFL, you need more than that. I hope he finds success, I really do. From a personal point of view I just saw parallels to GAIII's career and others.

Austin wouldn't have changed anything tonight. He struggled in coverage just as bad as Lenzy, and Lenzy's sole catch tonight was a miracle. The WR group is going to need another year or two to get talent again and get coached up. As a position group they've been trending downwards for too long.

Big increase next season. Big. Greathouse is a man. I still want to know where the fuck Merriweather was.

Merriweather will definitely get time this season. This WR group is struggling too much for him not to, 3 catches for the entire position group is just not enough. Under the lights in Columbus is a pretty big opening stage for a true frosh.

Add Jalen Guyton to that mix. And he made it to the nfl and has been productive
Wasnt he the one that had the story in the news paper about a weird lovers triangle with a professor and her daughter

Get ready to see many many more of these in CFB. Taking the money and toasting their focus.
The NFL herd may become thinner.
I think the listed three were all public school ones too that were a little more academic reach. Stepherson ended up a pretty serious criminal by like 19

I’d argue Daniels reached his potential (had a low ceiling) and has had a nice pro career in CFL?

For real. Steph was the most explosive weapon on the 16 and 17 offense. Daniels was good but nowhere near that during his time. Plus as you said he had a solid CFL career.

Austin’s decision to go early was one of the worst over the last 5-10 years.
Yep.

He comes back without TJ Jones and both he and Fuller are 1000 yd WR's.

He's doing more than solid in Canada, he was over 1000 yds last year and getting better every year. Got locked into a contract thru 2025.

Austin was 2018 thru 2021. Ironically, he should have come back from a development standpoint. But, that QB room...woof. I am not sure he would ha e upgraded his positioning much.

Or do you mean Daniels?

I show him as 24th in the league among WRs with 253 yards for the season.
Surprised there was no mention that the UFL Championship winning coach is ND's own Skip Holtz.
