I think we can safely discount the value of swag when one of his kids already attends Notre Dame. I guess at best that means dad didn't go out and burn all his gear.

Is he wearing SC or Stanford gear?

Another CB to USC today. Granted, he has a pretty bad accuracy rating.

I venture over to USC's 247 board every once in a while because they don't keep much content locked behind a paywall and the posters are pretty well connected. They seem VERY confident that ASB will be a Trojan.

From the trend from the past few days need of of nothing and how he seems to be a lil different than his two older brothers.....I tend to agree.

Hopefully we get at least one more visit before he decides

Why do you feel he is drifting away. I'm not questioning you. I just have not been following recruiting closely this year.

That's my feeling after reading everything out there. I read a lot more westcoast, regional, local stuff on ASB than just the ND focused services. The aggregate says he's trending away.

Irish put some good wins on the board this yr and ESB has a good yr, then ND is gonna be a tough beat for his commitment!

ESB could put up a monster season and we'll all be glad to have him. But I think we've all been hoping to finally sign a Percy Harvin for BK-now-Chip-Long's offense. They've been nearly impossible to produce at ND. D. Neal - wash out., Amir Carlisle - below average production, Robby Toma - he's Robby Toma (he was a sure handed, consistent player), CJ Sanders - failed to produce big numbers in the offense but solid in the return game.

Each year, we get our hopes up that we've finally found a slot that's a gamebreaker and it never pans out. ASB looks like our closest option this year.

Maybe Claypool will make us forget all about the short, shifty slot and we can move past this archetypal image floating in our heads.

Yeah, even with the proper personnel, BK has never shown a focus on actually using the slot position that he still seems to recruit for.

The "last hurrah" appears to be CJ Sanders. He is the prototype quick-twitch slot that BK has tried getting involved, and he has actually (*KNOCKS ON WOOD FURIOUSLY*) been reliable in terms of both (1) bringing the speed as advertised and (2) not letting the team down somehow.

If he isn't given a clear role on offense this year, even with Long bringing in more focus on 2-TE personnel, then we can essentially stop worrying about slot receivers for good, because if CJ doesn't prompt the usage, then no slot receiver ever will.

don't forget the fumble against clemson...it was a huge game changer

but the slot position has always been an albino deer w/ BK's offense...you hear about them but rarely seen....being short really hurts him on being looked at over the middle but kizer wasn't a guy w/ great accuracy so any balls thrown his way likely would be overthrown....by all reports, wimbush has been spectacular in placing the ball...so maybe this is the year...

I meant more in terms of off-the-field let-downs, ala Davonte Neal. And did CJ have a fumble against Clemson? I thought that was C.Breezy.

Like so many aspects of BK's offense, it's perplexing because of how well he utilized so many different personnel packages during the UC years, when his offense was humming. He had two jumbo TE/WR's that he used effectively, like what we're hoping with Alize, but he also had a couple of big-time producers at slot receiver, which we SHOULD be seeing with CJ. Perhaps Quinn as offensive coordinator really was a huge difference.

And Wimbush looks noticeably more comfortable throwing/placing passes to receivers in-stride than the past few ND QB's, so hopefully that results in several noticeable differences with the offense, in addition to CJ getting some shine.

i will never forget BK making the statement that when he was in cincy his job was to get people in the stands and he had to do that w/ an exciting offense
