I don't remember where I saw it or heard it but when Owusu committed today Clark Lea commented that he's a game changer at Rover.

Long day for me. I originally read this as "Coach Lea posted a pic of Jeremiah without a caption on his twitter."

I giggled for a moment. Was thinking of new coach on his big stage and he made an oopsie.

I think that the breakdown shows that Elko can check the boxes with two of everything, Drop, Mike, Buck, and Rover.

Even though Elko says a Mike, and a Buck are nearly the same thing, a Buck does have weakside/wideside outside responsibilities.

The point is, I bet Elko felt ND was Mike, and Buck heavy already, only wanted another linebacker commit, and really wanted a Rover this year, that he could build. I have a sneaky suspicion that someone like Drue Tranquil is going to end up as Rover next year, and that Elko likes some of the big db's as cornerback.


I think a Rover is a second level defender that doesn't need to be limited to the box, or cover down field; they are blitzers, open field tacklers, etc. Not as big and solid as a true linebacker, and maybe not as fast as a safety. I think that they disguise the defensive formation, making it harder to attack, as someone earlier noted.

I have no issue with him being able to identify someone ideal for a key position in his defense in getting them. It's different when we cant find or get the ideal people for that position. Timing is key in reference for everything. If Simmons and Phillips are already part of the class we prolly arent telling them to kick rocks. If we dont land some of these kids late for that position who knows what people are saying?

I just found it interesting the timing of his comments and the recruiting.

What is JOK's position? His stats as of now say SS but he's likely to end up at Rover?

That is some real athleticism to leap like that. His vert must be 35+
