Knew this day would come.

219 yds, 4 TD's with 9:00 left in the 4th.

I wonder if Long, Elko and Lea were here last year if they'd have taken him as a RB instead of recruiting him as a LB?

Looks like Harbaugh- and a lot of schools shit the bed on this one telling the kid he had to play LB.

Kid is a freak show with that size and strength. That play where he rag dolled a Louisville LB'er with a nasty stiff arm and then went 75 yards for a TD....Jesus.

Shouldn't even open this wound but all things considered, he was my favorite recruit in the 2017 class:

2017 Freshman yr: 6-0/240 ... 13 G ... 300 car ... 1589 yds .... 5.3 ypc ... 14 TD

I will never mention Steele Chambers at LB again, scouts honor!

😢 All thought the staff should have took him, started him at RB and if that didn’t work (now we know it would work) then move him.

Given what we know about BK and how he values pass protection and receiving, we probably still wouldn't know what Dillon is capable of. You have to be able to do at least one of the two well to get much playing time. Dillon would've rode the bench and played about as much as McIntosh. No italics.

Season Stats
A.J. Dillon, True Freshman

Overall Season Grade: 80.6 (Very Good, #42 Nationally)

Overall Rushing Grade: 81.2 (Very Good, #36 Nationally)

Overall Receiving Grade: 54.5 (Below Average)

Pass Block Grade: 61.7 (Average)

Total Snaps: 368

Key Plays: 130 (#17 Nationally)

Missed Tackles Forced: 57 (#7 Nationally)

Two areas where Dillon struggled were in the receiving game (he did not have a reception this year) and in pass protection, so look for him to focus on improving in both of those area’s this offseason

Kicking more ass right now against Wake. Sure wouldn't mind having him in the backfield...

Only RB we took in '17 was CJ Holmes who didn't even last a year.

Next time we should let the 4-Star legacy start off at whatever position he wants to.

Haha yeah this thread is full of the IE armchair coaches getting one right for once...

I mean, how do you not offer someone with his athletic traits? Insane.

Harbaugh messed up royally on that one. Should've just stfu and told the kid you're a RB. Tried to get him to play LB'er and he said no thanks. Just lie to him to get him on campus. Once he's there would be clear as day to anybody he's the best back on the roster.

I remember this recruitment like it was yesterday.

#BC RB AJ Dillon has elected to forego his senior season and enter the 2020 NFL Draft. Going through some 2017 guys we used to talk about a lot with the news that Jack Sears is going to Boise.

Might as well start here:

Went RD 2 - Pick 62 to Green Bay. This kid sure knows how to get under my skin.

Was 3x All ACC - All American in 2019

Ran for 4400 yds in 3 yrs / 35 games w/ 40 TD's.

Green Bay looking to move him to LB

He'll need to gain 15lbs first though... right...

I can’t remember who I had an argument with on this site about Dillion. But basically the poster was saying Dillion would be lucky to get drafted and Chuba will get drafted before AJ. The mark is set, will Chuba Hubbard get drafted before the 62nd pick in 2021.

guy does leg days

LaFleur has been impressed with him so far. I still think it was an interesting draft choice given their need at WR, but I assume the writing is on the wall that they won't pay Aaron Jones who will be gone after this year.

That's really too bad because I don't think AJ will be nearly the player that Jones is. I get that RBs don't get paid, but seems like a mistake imo.

I'm with you 100%, but I think it's more about the other guys who are on their final year: Kenny Clark just got paid a record NT contract (worth every penny), David Bakhtiari (he will get paid next, one of the best tackles in the game) and they have Kevin King at corner too who showed this past year he can be pretty dynamic when healthy.

I think just given the RB position, he is already no better than 3rd highest priority with Clark and Bakhtiari clearly more valuable and you can make an argument that he and King are a toss-up.

I love Aaron Jones but RBs are a dime a dozen in today's league. He is extremely versatile and dynamic though, I would be ecstatic if they find a way to keep him.

Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong, but I don't think that AJ has the speed that Jones has, and I highly doubt he'll be catching 30+ yard wheel routes either. Now I think he could be everything that the Pack thought they were getting with Eddy Lacey, but they're gonna be losing a lot of talent when Jones leaves. Though I guess they could try to solve that problem in the draft next year.

You're certainly not, comparing the two is hardly apples to apples. Jamaal Williams has an expiring contract as well so I wonder if they won't retain him, and I know LaFleur had good things to say about Dexter William's progression this offseason in year 2. Maybe they just believe the sum of their parts are better than paying Aaron Jones, but I agree with you.

He's a helluva RB, definitely underrated/overshadowed by the other super stars in the backfield.
