It's almost like they ignored a recruit who wanted to come to ND and then tried to get in way too late.

I've been to ND for many football weekends, but also have done PSU for a couple. I can see how someone that age would prefer PSU honestly. No clue if he went there in the Fall or not, but it's sweet there and much livelier game experience and a better party environment around campus and downtown for sure.

If PSU is good, it will be really hard to pull the PA/NJ kids and just another team to battle for the midwest kids and Maryland/Virginia kids. Penn State is probably the best gameday atmosphere in all of college football. It is almost definitely the loudest. And the whiteouts are mindblowing to see. I could absolutely see kids wanting to play there.

All ND has to do is stay #3 in PA and go after the RKG's. 4-8 ND cleaned house in PA this year and PSU won the B1G. ND walks into the Catholic schools in traditionally friendly Cincy, Cleveland and Toledo and goes toe to toe with the #2 program in the country for the kids they target. As long as there are Catholics and parents, grandparents, coaches or mentors that are Catholic and remember the glory years, ND will always matter.

YOu must not have been to a good SEC team. Check out LSU when a big game is in town and you will learn the error of your statement my friend.

I've not been to a PSU game but have been to Baton Rouge for a game. LSU has rude, crude, drunken fans in excess. You apparently relate gameday environment to frequent puking and staggering.

Yes LSU is full of what you stated and it can be quite annoying when you arent a fan (I would wear my ND jersey) but that place is pretty crazy. Tailgate for days. I remember being at the LSU/FL game with Teebows last year and it was insane. Whole stadium was shaking.

Unfortunately I have not been to LSU yet (but a trip is in the works). However I can't imagine it's much louder than PSU. Beaver Stadium is like an echo chamber and it holds 5,000 more than Tiger Stadium. Plus there is nothing like a whiteout. The people glow under the lights, it's pretty incredible to see in person.

I bet it is. I just remember LSU being crazy loud under the lights. And the sights to see there were amazing. Add all the tailgating and it was a really good experience. Much better than a Bama gameday experience for sure.

They play maybe one big game a year at home. Who wants to see them play GA St., Kent, Y, Youngstown, Toledo, and the rest of the crap teams they play?

Been to a white out. I thought their atmosphere was corny with the Nittany Lion roar sound clip going off every 20 seconds.

Stinks.

This kid was dying for an ND offer. He killed it at II, but didn't get an offer because we were in good shape with others.

Then a 4-8 season hits and we lose traction with Black, OSB and Pouncey. Still no offer for Mac. This kid will be a star in college and be playing on Sundays. We lose to pedophile State U.

This is what happens when you don't care about taking recruiting seriously, crap the bed on the field and just expect recruits to come calling. On the bright side, this cycle will be over soon and maybe Kelly will go away in a year. The problem is the damage this class will do to ND will be felt for a few years.

And ND SMOKED PSU on their home turf for Adams, Hinish, Lugg & Hainsey, not to mention head to heads with Holmes, Robertson, Ewell and probably more.

Hell, even goofy azz Jeter picked ND over his home state favorites.

This is just a case of too little too late. ND probably didn't even slow play MC Hammer, they back burnered him at best, maybe straight up ignored him. That's what pushed him to Happy Valley... if that's how this story ends at least.

Yup.

I think its time to put the whole "Mike Elston is a great recruiting co-ordinator bit to rest".
He clearly mishandled kids like Yeast and Hippenhammer. Then kids like JGH, Owusu, Armstong and Jalen Harris were seemingly nowhere to be found on ND's radar but all seem like real players who are RKG types.

Is this Elston's fault? None of those kids would have been in his position group. Why would Elston be at fault for a WR not getting an offer latter summer?

I'm not saying I agree with the previous poster. But I would guess it's because Elston is recruiting coordinator.

I'm half way through today's ISD Recruiting Podcast and Mike Frank said a couple times "we know for a fact they didn't evaluate [Plan B guys]". His typical podcast rant was about ND never having a Plan B.

Only sharing his opinion I have no idea if that's accurate.

Yeah, I think much of the credit Elston has received for Recruiting Coordinator is around recruiting logistics not necessarily identifying/offering/landing recruits. Maybe others can confirm/refute that.
