While I like the kids film, and his play at some camps has been very good.

The staff has worked him out multiple times, and passed. WR is a position I trust the staff on.

Isn't Black rumored to be a silent?

he was supposed to be a silet commit to the team he was planning on committing and then letting everyone know at army all american...to the recruiting sites, he hasn't given ANY coach a silent

ISD now reporting in this week's Intel that they expect ND to push for him.

Irish Sports Daily Forums)

hmmmm thinking Black is heading to meatchicken?, which is fine w/ me if this is the case...he seems more explosive

247 was saying the same thing yesterday that they expect him to be offered IF they haven't already--per wiltfong

I question all info coming out about Martin.

No one's ever had a bead on him including our resident undercover ND reporter.

I don't know much about him other than he tests off the charts and he was named All Offense at the biggest camp/combine in the country. That and he's camped at ND multiple times.

Those things add up to... Me want 'ems.

Knew it 9 days ago.

Yes, reading between the lines I think we've already extended an offer. Hope it's not too little too late considering we could've offered and pushed on his recent visit.

Isn't the plan to take two receivers? So we still have Black in the fold and perhaps Martin is an OSB replacement?

Black is looking much less certain than previously thought.

Outside of Jeremiah Holloman and H. Jones, he's one of my favorite WR's. I'd love this to be true and hopefully get some traction.

I'm with you and Wooly. I really want him in this class. Hezekiah and Martin are toss ups for me (I hope that doesn't come across as blind fandom). I'm really happy with either/or.

I would've held reservations if Martin didn't blow up at the Opening but that sealed the deal for me. He can compete with the best and he'd be a fantastic addition to this roster. Let's hope he likes ND.

He loves ND. Camped at II last year and was scheduled to go back this year. 247 still shows he was there on him timeline. There were a lot of under the radar guys (at the time) who didn't get press.

So Michigan is getting Peoples Jones, Black, and that other really good WR I can't think of off of the top of my head? Good Lord. Good thing OSU gets high 4/5 star DBS because that WR class is filthy.

So how do you go back and sell the love now, when you didn't show him the love the last time? Has to be something of an awkward conversation.

I don't think it's a hard sell since offer list is, in my opinion... looking for a safe word... ok? And Michigan no longer wants him.

one thing that has ALWAYS been mentioned by recruits has been how up front and honest they are....if they are NOT plan A....this bodes well to circle back around...and when you offer one of the best degrees to go along w/ championship caliber football, it almost makes it too hard to pass up

My assumption is that the initial reporting from 247 wasn't accurate. They are the ones that said he visited, we didn't offer, and Loy commented that it probably ends this recruitment. For all we know, he could've completely made that up. It wouldn't be the first time that they've flip flopped in such a short period of time.

This.

I didn't believe the reports 10 days ago of each moving on. Who knows what dialogue has been going between the parties?

He had a 130 SPARQ score (2nd best by any receiver scored this year) and he burned some really good corners at the opening. Plus, turn on his highlight tape for about 15 seconds and it's pretty tough not to notice.

Just looking a 40 time isn't gonna tell you what a kid plays like. C'mon Koon.

Pro Tip: He also has bid squad potential. $5.

I agree with all of this, especially the Opening..And the SPARQ score is impressive...

But the film is from Iowa. I'm not putting too much stock into that like I do for guys from Texas, Florida and Cali.

I wonder how many kids from his District are on D-1 radars...probably not many.

.

when you see guys from lower tier talent pools...look to see how dominant they are...do they just jump right out? watching chase claypool, same thing....just WOW you when watching and see they are clearly head and shoulders above the others...he does this and then put it on the TOP TIER..yes in shorts-but was able to show off the athleticism/speed and ability to create seperation

In watching his film, this is the kind of guy I always like to see on a team. He seems like one of those who is going to make the catch and then always get some positive YAC.

As far as his 40, first off, 4.57 is not bad to start. But the question is has he been competitive swimming in the winter and summer?

If so, he's not building muscle that translates to explosive speed. Long story short, he's going to respond more to a college weight program then someone who is already lifting 12 months a year. I bet that 40 time improves a lot in college.

As far as the talent pool, its always a risk to pick a kid out of a lower level of competition. Speed is speed, but how does he react to getting hit more often and more squarely by kids bigger and as fast as he is?

But it's not like he's a 195 lb. DE, either. He's got the right measurables for what we need.

Iowa HS is just fine. No, it's not TX, FL, or GA, but remember the other recruit at WR being talked about is from Connecticut.

You know how many guys are out dominating lower talent pools? LOL

Like I said, the Opening performance and Sparq score impress me. Those alone are enough for me to take a serious look at this kid. He actually reminds me of Ryan Swope who played at A&M size wise. But Swope is blazing fast.

But I put no stock into dominating small town Iowa. Small town Texas? Yes, as they consistently put out top talent.

The coverage in those highlights is absolutely horrific. Not just from a talent perspective, but technique. I mean, the first guy had a 10 yard cushion...then got smoked by 7 yards down the field?!!?

I get it. I'm not saying you can't find talent there...I just don't trust the highlight reels like I do in those other states, is all.
