As far as his 40, first off, 4.57 is not bad to start. But the question is has he been competitive swimming in the winter and summer?
If so, he's not building muscle that translates to explosive speed. Long story short, he's going to respond more to a college weight program then someone who is already lifting 12 months a year. I bet that 40 time improves a lot in college.
As far as the talent pool, its always a risk to pick a kid out of a lower level of competition. Speed is speed, but how does he react to getting hit more often and more squarely by kids bigger and as fast as he is?
But it's not like he's a 195 lb. DE, either. He's got the right measurables for what we need.
I say put 30lbs on him and put him in with our talented... pool of OLB's. I'll bet he shows up with a savage swim move.
Which way to the exit fellas?
