Start them outside, see who plays the OT's best and then work to get your best 5 on the field at the same time.

Freebie from Wiltfong/247:

Analysis Robert Hainsey commits to Notre Dame Fighting Irish

“He’s a blue-collar guy like a lot of offensive linemen Notre Dame has had through the years,” IMG coach Kevin Wright said.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Hainsey plays in a similar style offense at IMG that Notre Dame runs. Hainsey is typically on an island without a tight end blocking on the edge within a fast-paced and balanced offense.

With that being said Hainsey is a swing guy for the Irish and could play any position across the front. He’s a technician in the trenches with a gritty attitude. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the country’s No. 4 offensive guard and No. 70 player overall.

“From the day he walked on our campus he’s been a leader,” Wright said. Hainsey is a Pittsburgh-area native that transferred to IMG prior to his junior season. “He’s a kid that’s very intrinsically motivated. A good student, works hard.

Wright added that what Hainsey has done at IMG the last two years will have good carry over to when he arrives at Notre Dame. Wright has also known Irish offensive line coach Harry Hiestand for a long time.

“There is a real good fit there because coach is an excellent teacher, big on fundamentals, technique and mechanics,” Wright said. “So is Robert. Robert is big but he’s not 6-6, 320 big. He relies a lot on athleticism and technique. That’s what coach is really known for. He’s a tremendous teacher.

“You can never have enough outside guys and I imagine that’s where they’ll start him but I think one of the things Harry has done is he’s able to take his best linemen and make them fit.”

In Hainsey, Coach Brian Kelly and Hiestand have another piece on the offensive line as he joins fellow Top247 recruit Joshua Lugg and offensive guard Dillan Gibbons who is a nasty young man at the point of attack himself. Notre Dame aims to take five in the 2017 cycle and would love to add five-star Foster Sarell and fellow blue-chipper Jedrick Wills to what’s already onboard.

This is just another example that we are among the best, if not THE best, OL factories in the country. ND is an elite University and an Elite football program.

Hope you mean Zack.

You know, the more I read the more it is apparent that HH has said RH he can play anywhere along the line. If by ANYwhere he means center, maybe RH is a possibility to succeed Hoge at center in '19 or '20? Everyone mentions his leadership qualities and his technical approach to blocking. Sounds like a good center candidate to me.

So maybe Chosen's on to something. Afterall, NM, ZM coming out of HS are about the size of RH right now.

It's kinda funny that we land an o-lineman from Florida that is ranked in the top 100 but if you just read the posts on this thread, you would've thought we landed a 3 star from Indianapolis.

We sure have been spoiled with o-line recruiting lately.

But he is playing at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Probably the best high school team in the country.

yes but he's not from florida. he didn't grow up in SEC land or have any ties to any programs down there

More to ArrowRyan's point though, I think hes amped (as we all should be) because hes playing against Florida Competition week in and week out. When we all get excited about Florida, Texas, Cali, etc, players, i think its because of the level of competition they have, not because they are from a certain area necessarily .

Just my thoughts, correct me if im wrong Arrow

That wasn't exactly where I was headed but I agree with you though.

I love getting kids from IMG, Palm Beach Gardens, Bishop Gorman, Indy Cathedral, etc.. They all play championship football, the players are taught to have a winners mentality, and getting a kid or two from those schools every year or so keeps the pipelines alive.

But yeah, I would bet Hainsey goes up against D1 caliber kids quite often

Yeah... it's called practice.

He'll line-up across from Josh Kaindoh, Cam Spence, Taron Vincent and Robert Beal everyday. Ouch.

IMG does 1v1? i figured they had enough kids for real solid scout teams. (not that those wouldnt be underclassmen D1 kids too)

IMG's roster has about 65-68 players. Kinda of like what ND has been fielding ... when they're healthy.
