You're making it sound way worse than it is.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">To all the recruits out there that have Clemson officials coming up... I ENVY YOU </p>— ㅤ (@CjHo1mes) <a href="https://twitter.com/CjHo1mes/status/818693351159590912">January 10, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

He's probably tweeting that because he knows Clemson is about to be lit after winning the NC.
<script async="" src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script><iframe id="rufous-sandbox" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true" allowfullscreen="true" style="position: absolute; visibility: hidden; display: none; width: 0px; height: 0px; padding: 0px; border: medium none;" title="Twitter analytics iframe" frameborder="0"></iframe><iframe id="rufous-sandbox" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true" allowfullscreen="true" style="position: absolute; visibility: hidden; display: none; width: 0px; height: 0px; padding: 0px; border: medium none;" title="Twitter analytics iframe" frameborder="0"></iframe>

I don't know how I made anything sound bad, when i put almost verbatim what he tweeted out. I didn't say it looked bad, I put what he said.

I envy these schools as well. This level of play seems so far away for ND.

Well there's a difference between saying you're jealous of the kids who are going to see Clemson after the NC win, and kids that are going on any official. One makes it sound like you would just love to see the party going on at the school of the first team to ever topple Nick Saban in a National Championship; the other makes it sound like you wish you still had OVs because you really want to visit other schools.

Just saying you have to be careful with what you put with half this board on constant suicide watch.

I second this, big difference.

Fair enough. I do realize everyone is on the cliff. Taking everything with a grain of salt!

Who doesn't love to hear a kid say about where he potentially plays.. "If its in the slot i'm gonna be routing dudes, and if it's behind the quarterback, i'm going to be running dudes over." Need more attitude like this on this squad

"Notre Dame has those unspoken secrets that like only if you go there you get to see them."

That gave me the chills. Like button activated.

Nice interview my CJ, definitely a RKG for this football program and the university.

Not going to be able to find the thread, as it was awhile back now. But classic Wiltfong, being a good corporate soldier, said that CJ isn't as explosive, as the other 35 RB's ranked ahead of him, by 247, lol.

Hard to take him seriously if he really believes that. I'll be surprised if he isn't more productive than half of those guys in front of him.

I mean, CJ wouldn't disclose his 40 time at the opening, and wouldn't let them post it. I've heard a few times throughout this recruitment that hes not the most explosive and it's not just from wilfong. IDK what to expect and maybe he is explosive, but jusy saying.

That's precisely the point. The level of stupidity behind his ranking is off the charts. They are making their decision, almost entirely, on what his 40 from the opening was. Which is what Wiltfong used to in his defense of the rating. When asked if he truly thought 628 players were better and 35 RB's, he didn't respond. Plenty of other things should go into a ranking, plus other ways to judge explosiveness, than just a 40 time at one event. There is a reason that players run at the combine and get other another chance at Pro Days. Because no scout in his right mind would make an entire eval based on his running of 1 or 2 40 times at a single event.

He was at II and you could watch both his Junior and Senior film. It's laughable if they truly think there are 628 better HS players and 35 RB's.

There is a reason he is a top 300 player by all other services.

Keep in mind I'm not calling for a top 100 grade here, but to defend that level of stupidity is just what you'd expect from him these days.

He'll be more productive than half of those RB's and 60-70% of the players in front of him. I guess we'll see on the field over the next 4 years.

I'm actually not 100% sold on CJ Holmes because a lot of times guys who are RB/WR struggle to excel at either position. Other times, they're dynamite playmakers.

Here's what I'll say about pass catching backs... Theo Riddick ran a 4.68 at the combine, Le'Veon Bell ran a 4.6, Devonta Freeman ran a 4.58, and James White ran a 4.57. I don't think I need to pull highlights to show how totally unimportant their 40 times are towards their ability to dominate a football game.

I know CJ Holmes ran slow at The Opening and was pissed about it. On the other hand, he won the 40 yard dash competition at Irish Invasion. I do not think he is a blazer, but I agree with everyone saying his low rating on account of one 40 time at one camp epitomizes the flaws in recruit rankings.

You prefer CJ or McIntosh from the 2016 class?

I don't know if CJ Holmes will be an all American. But, I do expect him to have a very productive career at Notre Dame starting this year.

I really don't seeing CJ having a big impact, or even a ton of time on the field this year. There are a lot of RBs/WRs that have experience. Adams,Dex, even Tony Jones. Plus Stepherson, Sanders. He'll definitely see the field at times (mainly blowouts). I watched him play this past season and he's extremely elusive/quick. But to say he's going to have a very productive season for the team THIS year, is a bit of a stretch to me. Can't wait for spring ball already.

Lax, I think those are good points, and I'm not calling for a top 100 rating. I'm saying justifying a 629 rating seems lazy and quite stupid.

I recall 247 had Will Fuller has its 46th rated receiver and 345th player overall. But I give credit to Tim Prister who after having evaluated his Sr. film said he was one of the best players in ND's class that year and very underrated by the ranking sites.

Not sure if he'll be ready for the season opener, but her should be ready soon after that. Per ISD

I wonder if he'll play or red shirt.

I don't really see a need to play him, given the depth chart.

He's Theo Riddick 2.0 IMO. I don't think we have someone like him on our roster; he has that rare running/receiving combo.

Deon McIntosh is in this definitely in this category and would move back to the backfield if the injury bug hits the RB corp.

Also, though Tony Jones will never be labeled a receiver, analysts have praised him for being a very good receiver out of the backfield. Can't wait to see him go in motion into the slot and having the MIKE pick him up in coverage... get out the butter cuz you just made toast.

If he's ok with it, redshirt him. Time to get healthy, and learn the all-important (for a Brian Kelly RB) pass protection schemes.
