Ehh I'd argue there are a ton of freebies in FYS. Your "soft science" is an auto A for showing up, as is your sem class. Honestly not sure how you can fall below a 2.0 freshman year if you physically attend every class.

My seminar class years ago graded a lot harder than that and we had to write a paper every week... I'm not familiar with the concept of a "soft science" as I was an engineer. Those science classes were no joke. I'm not saying it's hard to stay eligible for these players, just that I can see how someone might fall behind.

Also, this is all kind of off topic now, but my main point is that Stanford is a fraud when it comes to academics.

I'll add one point to everyone's favorite topic: the Wizard of Oz factor ("Don't have a brain, here's a diploma!")

The quality of an education cannot be quantified. You can talk about average return on investment, selectiveness, prestige of the faculty, rankings, or all kinds of other factors, but you can't quantify how the learning experience actually impacts a kid.

A Stanford degree is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious in the country, more than ND's by almost every account.

But that doesn't mean you are getting a better education.

At Oxford, where education is almost exclusively the responsibility of the student, everyone agrees that your diploma is valuable, but everyone also agrees that the quality of your education is largely dependent on what you did while you were there. Did you read? Did you attend the best lectures? Were you studying a challenging subject? Was your advisor engaged?

If you want prestige, state of the art labs, and access to capital, I'd go Stanford. But ND is great in those areas as well. More importantly, though, ND argues that its professors, educational philosophy, and core curriculum provide as good or better base education than anywhere in the country. I tend to agree with them--better than Stanford. But that argument cannot be quantified.

So while you can get a great education anywhere, including your neighborhood library, ND is uniquely designed to point you in the right direction.

To be honest, I don't see the big issue. Let him go to Stanford. We are loaded at WR and, according to all the reports, Amon-Ra will be the best of the brothers. Let him come watch ESB play at a packed Notre Dame Stadium with a crazy student body/fan base and then go watch OSB play for a half filled stadium and a boring fan base/student body.

But I understand the feeling that its the principal of the matter, I hate losing anything to anyone, lol.

Tends to happen when your rivals win big games/conference titles/raise major bowl trophies and you don't.... don't know what to tell you. ND has come a long way but still hasn't taken that important step, this is why I was so pissed when we got tOSU instead of Iowa last year.

More explosive player. I think he's just a better version of OSB. OSB is a good prospect because he is very fundamentally sound, I think of TJ Jones, that's a compliment, as he was extremely productive. I expect OSB to be extremely productive as well. Runs good routes, has very good ball skills, good size, etc.

Though he's smaller, Martin's size won't be an issue. He is also a very good route runner, has very good ball skills, but is substantially more athletic. At least at the present time. Quicker, faster, more explosive. Personal opinion is both would be X Wr's in the this offense and Martin would give that position some extra juice.

I think there is always the concern that a younger brother may not want to be in the shadow of an older brother. I think ND will have to fight to win this one.
