From my understanding, he is great in film breakdown, both in season and recruits. He's not, however, dialed in with recruits and where they are going. We all have our short coming. Can't be great at everything.

he's not a recruiting guy though. it's not his job description. BGI just hired two new recruiting dudes to take over from Andrew Ivins

I see only maybe a 2% chance he picks ND, 98% it's Stanford. I said awhile ago that the only way I saw him picking ND was if he played out the process, took OVs to both schools, and his brother balled out. OSB has always been a Stanford lean, so I don't know how he could possibly pick us this weekend. I think our edge would've been the family connection plus showing how superior our fans/game day experience are. Now we don't get that chance. We rarely (if ever?) lose a recruit to Stanford that visits them for a game and us for a game. The recruits we lose head-to-head are the ones that pick early and don't look at the football experience, or those that take visits after the season when it's cold AF in South Bend but 70s in Palo Alto.

To the point about our S&C, the problem at hand is that ESB lost a bunch of weight last year and picked up an injury during the season that made he (and his dad) rightfully go "wtf?" I think there is a very real problem with maintaining players throughout the season, and I don't think it's an overuse problem. I think it's a time demand problem that gets kids away from maintaining their bodies as they should be. And I think there are things we could clearly be doing better from a nutrition (and/or PED) standpoint. I think we get a lot of fatigue injuries during the season on account of a lot of factors... some we can control, others we can't.

I wouldn't put his dad as a helicopter parent. You could say the same about 75% of parents. If the kid's dad is a helicopter parent and his son's final two choices are Stanford and Notre Dame, then I think he's doing a pretty good job.

Everything has been a plan, including marrying someone who was athletic enough to spawn supreme athletes (his words). There were red flags all over his first interview he gave with ISD, as many of his quotes were kind of jarring. Sorry, while parents can be nuts, 75% of parents are not that extreme...not even close.

So, many of us predicted him dropping complaints a long time ago. That said, the dude does know his shit when it comes to strength and conditioning, and as long as it doesn't become a major distraction, I think his kids are worth it, and I look forward to EQ balling out this year.

Would you leave your two sons at home to finish high school away from you to help one son now (and your other sons in the future)? I wouldn't, but that would be my personal decision. Not sure Mr. Brown would be down with that.

Also, not sure having an opinionated dad on staff would work for everyone either. That's a very dicey situation you'd be creating.

He'll be accepted to Stanford. It's a lie that it's "very hard" to get in there... they push kids to get the best test scores and grades that they can because many in the administration are embarrassed by their athletes so they want the best academic profile they can get, but at the end of the day if you're good enough they'll take you with a 1000 SAT and mediocre GPA. And once you get there, the classes are as easy as UNC's fake ones.
