I can't believe how many people on here bad mouth HH. Give your heads a shake!!
which is why DUKE had 3 sacks and 3 TFL against our elite OL?
And coaching. See NFL players Zack Martin, Nick Martin, Chris Watt and future NFL players Mike McGlinchey and Quinton Nelson.
Ronnie Stanley?
How the hell did I forget him.
You're gonna base it off one game? HH is a tremendous coach and it will be a sad day when he leaves.
It's a guess by Loy, I am not getting into this. I've told the board I am done with this.
Sounds like everyone is guessing though. I can understand a Homer pick in that instance.
It's just always a homer pick. Honestly all the prospects other than Sarrell that we are after Loy has CB'd them to ND

Never said it wasnt his m.o. just in this discussion case nobody knows what are they supposed to do, nothing?
So much for not getting into it about Loy....
I kind of agree with Calvs here I know we were breaking in three new starters but which game did our Oline dominate the D line? Why was our run game piss poor? I know play calling was suspect Heistand can recruit and develop certain players but as a whole our O line is pretty inconsistent over the years.
I think the staff has turned the heat up on Banks and that's paying off. I also assume this means Sarrel is probably staying west.
I think HH does a fantastic job of developing offensive linemen, but I have yet to see him consistently build top notch offensive lines. It's one thing to get guys like Martin x2, Watt and Stanley drafted early, but it's another to have a cohesive unit that can completely physically dominate the defensive lines. Part of that has to do with Kelly's scheme, since linemen are asked to play in space more and our running game consists are far too much perimeter and slow-developing runs. In addition, the S&C is god-awful, considering we have at least 2 starters that are playing woefully underweight. How does McGovern weigh in at 315 prior to fall camp and then lose nearly 40 pounds by season's end!?

"I really don't think Heistand deserves the blame. McGovern weighs less than when he was as a HS senior! That's not on Heistand. Plus, anyone you talk to around the nation says he is the best OL coach in the country or close to it. Everybody I know praises him. The reason you don't see ND getting a push isn't because of Heistand, it's because of Longo. You think Martin, Martin, Watt, Stanley etc can't get a push in college but can suddenly get it in the pros?"
Don't agree with calvegas here at all. IMO it has MUCH more to do with the S&C coach/program, and the philosophy of the head coach. Those things aren't on the offensive line coach. After the NC State game I made the mistake of bitching about the offensive line (after drinking a few too many) to a friend who played D-line in college and covers college football as a reporter for a living. Here was his exact response:
Yeah, that kinda shut me up right there. I've heard much more since about the S&C coach to make me realize that it's a clown show over there and Kelly is going to rue the day he kept Longo on for so long, just as he did BVG (and Booker).
I wasn't calling you out man, just adding to the subject. Now i'm done
Just want to point out that Koon first said this years ago.Don't agree with calvegas here at all. IMO it has MUCH more to do with the S&C coach/program, and the philosophy of the head coach. So using the excuse of "We don't have a training table" for years wasn't really the issue?
