Yes, but the ad's point basically was 'your coach is going to get fired', and Oregon already fired its coach, so they can do that and say 'at least you'll know the coach you sign with will be here'... At ND, you have no idea who your coach will be and there'll likely be a change while you're there.

Yeah but I cant any scenario why one would pick Oregon over ND. Possibly for women?

Football wise nothing special since Chip Kelly left
Academics nothing special
Weather sucks
Put less in NFL than ND

I understand not picking ND if you wanted a better program but why the heck Oregon?

Just because they are rich it doesn't make them smart. The newspaper ads were dumb.

I guess my point is, ad or no ad, it's easy to tell a recruit with confidence that BK is a dead man walking at 4-8 when everyone knows he's teetering on losing his job.

So ad or no ad, this neg recruiting was going to happen.

I did see a tweet in the last week that distance was going to be a factor for Graham, for what it's worth.

Then the buttercup should have said it from the beginning and saved a lot of time. The distance isnt any more greater now then it was in the beginning.

Oh well. When you're 4-8 you're treated 4-8. Don't like it, don't lose to Duke and Navy.

Seems more like this kid was looking for a reason to not come to ND and stay out west. The ads may have just given him the push he needed to eliminate ND.

Yes, but it looks worse when the negative recruiting is coming from your own program/fan base. When the team's fans are hanging effigies of their coach, it's much worse than some guy on the other side of the country saying "oh, well you know he won't be there long. He's only been there for 7 years, just received a big contract extension, and has played a part in drastically upgrading the universities facilities..."

The term negative recruiting is a redundancy. All recruiting involves pointing out the negative aspects of a recruits other choices. It's sales. Hammer your strengths and your competitor's weaknesses. Do you think ND doesn't stress Oregon's lower GSR and in particular its lower GSR for black athletes? I suppose that's racist negative recruiting? My guess, the stupid letter has ZERO to do with his decision.

4 reasons TG ends up in Eugene (if):

1. No one has mentioned Jaylon Redd. Graham's best friend / teammate from HS is an Oregon commit.

2. 4 star Deommodore Lenoir decommitted from Oregon 2 weeks ago. Oregon needs another CB. Graham was Taggert's first call.

3. Maybe he just hit it off with Taggert?

4. Most troubling to me:

How do two millionaire, former All-Everything DB coaches not close Thomas Graham (and Greg Johnson) when they have them 2 on 2 at an awards ceremony? They need serious help with the sales process. Unless Phil Knight is handing Graham's P's a Nike sized bag of money, Oregon can't beat me if I have all the bullets Lyght and Burris have in their clip. Fact.

Once Graham presumably commits to Oregon - would you call this sign sealed delivered? Or would you think Elko and ND can possibly slip in there for a late moment flip?

Can you be somewhere other than here right now?

Let him celebrate. He's been waiting 2 years for a winner. He's Eddie Mush from A Bronx Tale.

Analysis Thomas Graham commits to Oregon Ducks

The first big recruiting win for new Oregon coach Willie Taggart on the recruiting trail comes Friday in the form of Top247 cornerback Thomas Graham.

The pulse of the recruitment regarding the Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) High standout saw him go from a former USC commit destined for UCLA, with Arizona and Notre Dame then grabbing momentum before the Ducks closed him out over his other finalists which also included Nebraska and Arizona State.

Quickness and speed are coming to Eugene regarding the 5-foot-11, 175-pound Graham who was a difference-maker in all three phases during his prep career.

During The Opening Finals this summer Graham clocked a 4.56 40-yard dash with a very impressive 3.96 shuttle, no doubt making him one of the quickest cornerback recruits in America.

The nation’s No. 8 cornerback per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Graham is a smooth operator on the back end, easily turning and running with receivers. Has the speed and burst to quickly make a play, understands coverages and has the traits to be an early impact guy in Eugene.

Commit No. 14 for Oregon, Graham is just the second four-star commit joining fellow cornerback and teammate Jaylon Redd who was their team’s star running back on the prep level.

Disappointing, even though we all knew a month ago.

To your fourth point, Johnson was apparently turned off by the weather. You can have the best recruiters in the business, but if the doesn't want to be at ND, there's nothing you can really do about it.

Definitely disappointing, but, if this recruitment led him to Oregon, then he probably shouldn't be at ND.

To get out of this spot, we need committed kids. Players that are committed to the university and changing the culture. If Taggart can talk you out of that, with an in-home visit, it might be a blessing in disguise.

Example, if we never land Redfield, maybe we'd have had a Junior of Senior FS, this year, that could've helped win football games.

Yep, and he also signed his financial aid paperwork with Kelly on his in-home visit. Lets find another Julian Love, not another Redfield, that's all.

im pretty sure they said it was from their sources on the west coast

Correct, it was the "west coast sources", whatever that means, that have been claiming this. Partially why everyone was so confident. Also, Mr. Graham, at one point, was all in on Thomas ending up at ND. Outside of the Barnett family crying in BK's office when he committed to ND, I'm not sure I've seen a more enthusiastic parent, when talking about their son, potentially, ending up at ND. Both from Cali, and neither ended up at ND, lol

Told you so, he ain't coming here.

Mercy you didn't tell anyone anythang. Shouldn't you be posting your engagement photos on IG or worrying about Duke basketball? Let the adults talk

I have no problem with you posting here man if you want to earn back the respect of this board your post above isn't going to help you at all, but literally everyone has said for the last week he isn't coming here. Like people who get paid to cover and write about this stuff for a living. You didn't tell anyone anything so let's not flex your muscles in a bro tank, I've seen that enough

I honestly don't think Taggart played that much of a role in it. There were some things that went down on ND's end and it really turned off Graham. Also distance played a factor here down the stretch as pretty much every mod has confirmed. I agree with your first couple sentences. Maybe the depth chart played a role as well? He sees Love and Vaughn pretty much starting for the next three years and I know Crawford has only played in one game and who knows how well dem knees are going to hold up but he's not giving up his job to anyone
