Rarely ever work out but still

“Me and Stephen Carr are planning an official visit out there,” Graham said. “We just don’t know when yet.”

Currently, Graham has one official visit scheduled to Notre Dame on Sept. 17. While he’s no longer committed to USC, he says he hopes to play at the next level with Carr.

but ND and Oregon are the top two with Oregon having a slight lead at the moment. Armond Hawkins who is the ring leader on ground zero team posts on USC message board and this is where he info is probably coming from

just says according to a source...likely ucla or ND...lyght visited him

This is one of those players I think ND needs help with. We need to have a really good to great season and we need to continue showing love. When we win, our recruiting is bolstered with players like this. When we lose, we're happy with our class but we thought it was going to be special (at least ratings-wise). I'd say Kelly has done exceptionally well developing talent. And I hope he gave Hiestand a "free lunch for life" card because he's been a key figure in our offensive resurgence.

ATLANTA, Ga. — Notre Dame defensive backs coach Todd Lyght is doing what he can to make sure Thomas Graham feels like a priority. The Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) High Rivals100 cornerback said during check in for the Rivals Five-Star Challenge Presented by Under Armour on Friday that Lyght had called him a few days prior to the event to wish him luck.

It was a message that was well received.

"He's a cool guy," Graham said. "[Notre Dame] came by my school right before states, so like two weeks ago. He talked to me a little bit — it's going good."

Graham, who is ranked by Rivals.com as the nation's No. 67 overall prospect and No. 7 cornerback, visited Notre Dame back in March for a Junior Day. At the time he was committed to USC, but he decided a month later to back off his pledge to the Trojans.

"Notre Dame played a factor [in the decommitment] but was mainly just more of the schools that I did visit when I was committed to SC showed me a different type of feel when I was there and one that SC didn't show me," Graham said.

"My dad says that you don't go to places where you're not wanted. You would never date a girl if she's not showing you that she wants to be with you, so why do the same with college, because this is going to play a key factor for the next four years of your life."

Graham has also taken trips to UCLA, Oregon, Arizona and Utah.

He plans to return to Notre Dame for an official visit the weekend of Sept. 17 for the Michigan State game, but said that he might push the trip back in order to visit campus with some other California based prospects.

The 5-10, 173-pound cornerback clocked a 10.84 in the 100 meter dash this past track season. He ran a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash at The Opening Regional Los Angeles and added a 34.4-inch vertical jump.

PREDICTION: Notre Dame. A tough call here because UCLA and Oregon are also favorites but there’s something about ND when Graham talks that makes me feel he’ll end up there.---mike farrell

His dad talks to the guys at ISD. His dad, even though he is a life-long USC fan, absolutely LOVES Notre Dame, and if it were up to him, his son would attend ND. And his son's interest in ND is legit.

However, his mom is the biggest decision maker in the family and so she has to be convinced that ND is the spot for Thomas, and she hasn't been to ND yet. He thinks she'll love it too (when she comes on the OV) because she is so into academics, so it sounds like ND is in a great spot here.

Notre Dame recruiting target Thomas Graham felt he had a lot to prove at The Opening Finals at Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., last week.
The 5-foot-11, 177-pound four-star cornerback from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., believes he accomplished his goal.
“I think I did pretty well,” Graham said. “There are some little things in my game that I need to focus on but the competition I had and the success level I had with that high level of competition, I feel like I did really good. I proved to everybody out there that I’m the best cover corner in the nation.”
It’s hard to argue that point as Graham has collected offers from Notre Dame, USC, Alabama, LSU, Oregon, UCLA and several others.
Graham recently released a Top 10 that includes those six schools as well as Arizona, Oklahoma, Utah and Arizona State.
He has visited most of those schools and has official visits scheduled to Notre Dame, Arizona, Oregon and UCLA. He plans to add one more school to fill up all of his five allotted official visits.
Graham’s visit to South Bend will take place on Sept. 17 when Notre Dame hosts Michigan State.
“I think I’m going to (take a red eye) on Friday and get there on Saturday,” he said. “I’m going home Sunday night.”
The Notre Dame visit will be the second for Graham, who attended the Irish Junior Day back in March.
“It went great,” he said. “It was different, smaller and different. Basically you just focus on two things, football and school. You don't have a lot of distractions on the side.”
Graham spoke with Irish defensive backs coach Todd Lyght on Wednesday.
“It went good,” Graham said. “We just talked about how The Opening was and what players that I think that aren't really recruited that much that were there that he should look at. That was really it. He said he can't wait to get me up there.”
Graham said he has developed a strong relationship with Lyght and assistant coach Mike Sanford.
“Me and coach Lyght talk pretty often so that's pretty good,” he said. “I also talk to coach Sanford. He's just like me so I like him a lot, because he's from Southern California. We're both like inner city boys and he has a similar personality to me.”
Graham is considering early enrollment but hasn’t made a final decision on that.

Nah, that sh!t only happened under Lou lol... BUT could you imagine how many sacks ND would get in '18 & '19 if those two showed up together?

A fella can only dream...

I wouldn't be surprised to see Alabama make a real push here. They have zero DB prospects in this class and will make Graham a priority.

Agree. With mom being all about education, if the OVgoes well, Hopefully that will give us a really good shot at him with both parents in ND's corner.

I too really hope we get this kid. You gotta wonder though, with 7 very talented DB's taken last year it might be difficult to recruit top DB's this class or next class who are looking for early playing time. Crawford, Coleman, Watkins, Vaughn, Love etc etc etc. I LOVE our potential in the defensive backfield.

Real talent isn't afraid of competition. Let Bama make a push. There is no way Saban can sell Bama's academics as being better than ND's.

Yes and No. I'd say real COMPETITORS aren't afraid of competition. Their is some TALENT that want to play right away and look for teams with a huge need at their position. I totally hear you though. And Alabama can't even attempt to put themselves on an academic shelf next to ND.

If Shaun Wade picked ND he would start from day one and Thomas Graham would be the most talented corner we've signed since Cole Luke. So I don't think us taking so many DB's last year would scare them. You could argue Pride was the only true corner we took, Vaughn might move to safety and Love is more of a nickel guy

Wade and Graham are playing immediately. ND hasn't had guys like this since Crusader was drinking cheap Light beer watching Burris and Lyght. Troy Pride and Paulson Adeebo might be really good CB's at ND, they are unquestionably great athletes but Wade and Graham are better high school prospects.

Thanks for the insight. Seriously. I too think Adebo and Pride going to kill it and with some solid depth. I think Crawford and and Watkins are our starters at CB in 17

I would argue Pride is every bit as good as Graham. He's going to be a terrific player.

He's every bit the athlete and probably more but the consensus is Graham is more advanced at the trade at the same point of each player's careers. I can argue some guys slip under the radar, and I believe Troy is one of those guys who should've been higher than a 90 comp - #23 OA. I'll ride with him everyday regardless of rate/rank and am thrilled he's Irish. But if I had to put money on it, I'd bet Thomas Graham would eventually play in front of, or at least beside Troy in South Bend, even though he's chasing a year.
