Much respect to Eason for owning that publicly. Our QB depth chart is easily the most terrifying in the nation.

Hunter agrees as well. I wouldn't say most terrifying, but certainly about as strong/solid as you can have (3 deep).

I remember guys giving Kelly shit for saying he would take his three QBs over OSU's three QBs. Now one is a wide receiver and another showed he got lucky in last year's run.

Can't blame a guy who wants to go to a school where a QB who couldn't start at UVA was the starter

The comment was our three were better than their three. Not our starter was better than their starter.
well, depth is nice, but the only one that matters when it's all said and done is the best one. all 3 can't play at the same time.

Nope.. But injuries happen, potential is wasted, and a ton of various non pure athletic factors come into play though

Pretty easy to start as a freshman at UGA and hand the ball off 40 times a game compared to ND where the offense is more QB centric

right..which is why depth is nice and important. But if you have 3 guys who are all good quarterbacks, it doesn't matter if none of them can get the job done against the best. Kizer couldn't get it done against Barrett, and we still have yet to see what we have with wimbush and zaire.

Aaron Murray & Matt Stafford were able to find a few passing opportunities in their careers. Murray more than any ND QB in history.

Where to start...

I can't believe I'm reading this. Kizer, IN HIS FIRST YEAR PLAYING THE POSITION, as a redshirt freshman with no reps in the spring, lead incredible comebacks against the #1 team in the nation and the probable #5 team in the nation, and was a revelation to this team and this fanbase. And yet you're blaming him for his defense crapping the bed against Stanford after he lead his team to a game winning TD with 30 seconds left in the clock??? So if the Stanford kicker missed the kick, or of BVG had a clue on that last drive, THEN we could say Kizer could do it against the best?

Sorry, I'm not buying that. Kizer had some bad moments, no doubt, but what he did as a redshirt freshman thrown into the fire was incredible, and I'd go to football war with him any day of the week. The kid is beyond clutch and has all the makings of being a great QB. And the crazy hit about ND's depth there, he might not even start next year.

Oh, and it wasn't Kizer vs. Barrett. If it was, I'd take Kizer's year and his day over Barrett's. And Barrett got to go against ND's depleted and sucky defense. Shit, he had a higher QB rating than Barrett that night, he just didn't have a better team. Not sure how that's on Kizer, but it's obvious your mind is made up. Go Irish.

Haha, your take on Kizer showed that you probably smoke too much weed.

And that weed has you imagining that people are angry. Relax and perhaps try something other than than weed to make you relax. It's a message board...you post, people reply. No one is angry.

Excellent post.

OSU may be the three or four team when all is done. They probably should have been playing in the championship, but that's what happens with the brain drain the OSU coaching staff has suffered. Still have Urban de slime, picked up another ex-ND coach and lost Herman.

At his better moments, I didn't see anyone play better than Kizer; at his worst, he still looked better than anything ND has fielded under Kelly, except Zaire, (versus their worst moments). With Malik the sample is too small, of course; he played one perfect game.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I saw a ND defensive lineman going into coverage against Thomas, or someone almost as fast.

You're right. I should have specified that I was trying to give another perspective. Because I love the qb situation we have right now. Although, I don't think that what I was saying is so far fetched. They had three proven qbs, and we have one or two, depending on your own personal opinion. Their guy outperformed our guy in a head to head matchup, and yes our defense had something to do with that. But I don't think that anything I said necessarily warranted you trying to put me down, except maybe my comment on the ganja (which, maybe you guessed, I was under the influence of at the time). But whatever, it's a pointless discussion anyway

He has seemed underwhelming to me compared to Costello and Patterson. Patterson reminds me of Drew Brees

Definitely see the Drew Brees comp....like if Manziel and Brees had a baby....kid moves well in the pocket. I didn't get to watch much, just the first quarter but he's definitely got the build, size, arm strength and just enough mobility. I still think he's going to have the best career out of a pretty loaded '16 class.

According to the Dan Patrick show, he reached out to ND about a transfer and we said no. I'm fine with that, honestly.

Straight talk did anyone see Eason play as a frosh or couple drives this year?

He's basically Wimbush (big arm, doesn't really have the other things you want in a QB right now)... minus the elite athletic ability. He's a statue who isn't accurate with the ball and has a slow release. He has upside, but he'd probably be 4th on the depth chart in 2019 when he'd be eligible.
