In terms of developing talent in the last few years, he is what OSU produced:
2010: No draft picks
2011: No draft picks
2012: 56th overall pick
2013: 240th overall pick
2014: 59th and 161st overall picks

ND:
2010: 179th & 183rd overall picks
2011: No draft picks
2012: No draft picks
2013: No draft picks
2014: 16th & 89th overall Picks

Both have the same amount of picks over the last 5 years, but OSU leads in the last 3. That said, ND has produced a first round talent in Martin, who is excelling with Dallas and Watt started 5 games last year. Mewhort started 14 games for the Colts in 2014 and Lindsey started 16 for the Pack. So, I would say that overall, it really is about even. It would come down to preference and factors outside of football, which differs by individual. OL tend to be a bit smarter than the average player, which is why I think ND does well. Those guys value the education, enjoy Harry and see an upward trend in draft picks. Stanley will be a 1st rounder most likely, and who knows after that.

A couple of things to add.

Lindsey took over for JC Tretter when he went down at the start of the season. He may or may not be the starter this fall when Tretter has the off season to compete. So he starts zero games without Tretter's injury.

OSU fans love them some Taylor Decker and want to rub it in our faces that he dropped ND to go to Columbus. I love the look on their faces when they are told that Decker who was a long time commit switched only after a higher rated Ronnie Stanley committed over the winter. He saw the writing on the wall and didn't want to compete with established starters, Martin and Lombard and then get left at RT when Stanley took over the LT spot.
When you add that Stanley was a 3 year starter and that ND lost NOTHING except possibly 2 year starting RT in '14 and '15, they stfu. To be honest, Decker made a good move as far as his NFL chances. He's the starting LT at OSU, he would NEVER had been that at ND without injuries to at least Ronnie Stanley.

HH aside, they act like it's a shock for a smart Catholic kid from a Catholic high school to want to play at ND(?) ND built a program on those kids along with Western PA & Chicago Catholics. DUH. It's not a conspiracy, it's just the way it is. The sun rises in the east, water is wet and smart catholic kids are drawn to play football at ND.

The only advantage OSU has over ND regarding offensive line recruiting is they probably have a better chance to win a NC over the next 3 years (though ND is on the short list of teams that are built for a sustained run over that time period) and if you want to play early, you have a better chance at OSU.

If I'm a lineman, I would go NOWHERE else but ND. Guaranteed redshirt year 1, most likely no chance of playing your RS-F year, Compete for for a spot your RS-So year - probably only very limited field time, Hopefully start your RS-Jr year, graduate go the NFL. Minimize potential injury of having to play 4 years at a lesser program, get the best NFL prep in the college game, compete against the highest overall rated OL in the country, get a top 3 degree by Whiskey's numbers... #1 when you consider no one cares about Duke or Stanford football players and there are Irish fans at most every company waiting to hire you. And for me, it's the only school besides BC (I've heard, not sure) that has any real spiritual side woven into the program's fabric. A huge plus from me during my college experience.

Living in Catholic farm town area (West Central Ohio), I hate to see ND take the top two Buckeye kids. Too many Irish fans here who will love to rub that in. But I guess it's better than living around Toledo with all of the scUM fans they deal with up there.

As for Coach Ed, I think he will probably be in a very good head coaching position soon and most recruits would probably be thinking the same thing.

I love this shiit! Cracks me up. It is so fun to see the end of logic and civilization, when a fan's beliefs make a u-turn at logic, because there is no more, and turn back on that fan to avoid implosion.

I deal with Buckeye fans all the time, and our conversations usually end with me asking the same question : "You don't really believe that shiit, do you?"

Want to talk Catholic/Papist conspiracy? How many players on the ND roster are actually Catholic, versus say OSU? (I know of five Catholics on the roster in the last four years.)

But the best was the guy that talked about three coaches from the '12 ND team that now coach for OSU. The guy immediately after his post called him a dumbass and corrected him, and the guy after that changed the theme to, "That Urban Meyer, he gets the most out of his players and Coaches," without missing a beat.

I'll give you a beat.

Read the comments sections yourselves, they are full of beatoffs.

OSU better be glad their is no "I" in Notre Dame otherwise the Irish band would dot it 4x better than they do in Columbus.

One of them writes, 'Have fun losing to crappy ACC teams...'

I suppose they WOULD be the experts on that.

Epic recruiting coupe if we knot this kid up.

Would be extremely exciting.

And quite attractive for a big time QB and RB to "get behind."

What sometimes gets lost is that this is one kid's decision to make based on many visits and long discussions with coaches and others as well as determining what are his priorities for his future.

Ronald Darby and his family got caught up in the worst aspects of recruiting a few years ago.

CB Darby commits to FSU

Once a Notre Dame commitment, Darby saw the dark side of recruiting before he broke Clemson and Auburn's hearts. Darby said the online disapproval of him decomitting became bothersome. His mother noticed that right away.

"He got criticized a lot," she said. "I didn't want to read the messages but he'd just show me (and say) 'These people are talking bad about me.' I didn't read them. I just told him not to worry about it. You're only one person. You've got to do what you've got to do.

Best of luck to Liam whatever his final decision is.

Reading this thread lately :

A) Kelly has made huge strides in the recruiting program, since the days when Diaco told every other coach what they wanted.

B) FVck Ronald Darby, his mother, and his father! And the bull shiit about ND laying the hurt on him, Auburn and Clemson were just as nasty, and they clearly pooh-poohed that. Projection. They knew they screwed ND over.

C) I will get in a long angry argument with anyone that tries to rationally state as fact that OSU's offensive line of any recent year is superior to ND's line of any recent year. Anyone who lays difference of offenses and blocking schemes on quality of play deserves to be exposed as a mouth-breathin', pencil-necked, elderberry smellin' hamster fvcker that they clearly are! THAT is all!

I hope that I can watch him play this fall as an ND commit. Sawbut was not focused on him. one game last year
It is always more fun to watch players once they are committed IMO. It would be cool to make it to a Notre Dame commits game, but there aren't any big time players that come out of my area in Iowa. Sadface.

Is it just me, but does this announcement date seem to confirm ND will be his choice? Why would you set up the announcement date for the day after visiting pOSU if you didn't already know the answer of where you are going. Feels like he's visiting pOSU one last time out of courtesy.

That's how it looks to me too. Hopefully we lock this up.

1- I agree with you and think that is the case.

2- There is also the other side of the coin that perhaps he knows OSU is the place and he is going to commit this weekend. (The pessimist in me made me type it)

3 - He knows that Sunday concludes all visits and he can make his informed and final decision at that point.

FWIW, I'm leaning towards option #1.
