The staff shouldn't stop recruiting him, but there are some ppl that don't have to get their panties all in a bunch over this kid because he isn't coming to ND.
Honestly what are you talking about? Did he say he wasn't coming?

247 - returning to OSU for this week's game. Quotes from today:
“It was great man, “The point of emphasis was consistency. They believe in me. That’s huge.”
“Just how comfortable I am there,” “They were the first school to start recruiting me. I know the coaching staff well, I’ve been up there a thousand times, I know the players, I’m very comfortable, feels like home. That’s huge. When you’re comfortable and you know what the deal is and you trust the coaches, I believe it makes you play better. It’s like playing in high school. You know the guys there. You don’t have to remake friends, it’s comfortable, you come in and get to work
“That and being so close to home, I think it would help.”
“It was great, we went out and bowled and had fun,”
“I had a great time, very comfortable with the guys.”
“I might have my official (decision) date sometime this week or next week,”
Is it me or is this a recruitment about star value? No offense to the kid, but I believe that it has been stated that he has played 5.5 quarters of varsity football, due to injuries. I know that he looked good in the shorts/tshirt camp circuit, but I am not sure that I can get that upset if he decides to go elsewhere.

I think if healthy this kid could be a difference maker for this class. The staff really wants him and that's good enough for me. Why what do you think? I know some people want this recruitment wrapped up but everyone wanted this kid and now that he's not committed to ND now we don't want him? Can't have it both ways and my comment wasn't directed at you but many people are saying we shouldn't take him because he's not committed to ND at this point. He doesn't owe us anythingThis one would suck losing
What do you think? lol
Ooooo calm down you know what I meant.
Just found it funny, looked like asking yourself a question.

Some of you guys are acting like complete pansies. This kid is a stud. Hope he picks ND.
Just setting the table for when he picks someone else, we can say we didn't want him anyway!
Of course if he picks ND, it will be a huge pickup.
That's how we roll around here! lol
except the people saying it aren't wrong.
There's no such thing as a sure-thing in recruiting, there are very few defensive players like Jaylon Smith's or Jabirll Peppers in any given class. Hayes actually probably does have the athletic talent for his position to be on that kind of level, like those guys he's an exceptional athlete, almost freakish, but he's got nowhere near the experience, instincts, or production in HS that those dudes did. The near sure-thing lock guys like Smith and Peppers are extremely rare. It's pretty obvious that Hayes isn't in that category.
He's the ultimate boom or bust prospect. Definitely worth a roster spot, but he's no sure thing, he's not an immediate impact player. He wouldn't be a huge miss- like if ND was recruiting Jaylon Smith and they missed on him- that'd have been a huge miss.

Great way to start your argument.
I hope he picks ND too, if for nothing else that it looks good on the resume to beat OSU for a recruit. Anyway, since you are so absolutely sure of what a stud he is, can you point me to the film of all the high school games he dominated? Thanks.
Reminds me of Shane Morris at Michigan. Was offered as a sophomore and accepted, started and was ok as a soph (95 ypg)/junior (140 ypg), Played one game senior year (had mono).
Not quite the 5 star cred you would expect!
Okay, you want my 'argument'? Every year this board (and others) prop up a bunch of unpolished or untested 15 and 16 year old kids. I'm fine with following the ups and downs of recruiting. I don't like it when ND gets flat out beat for a recruit, but if they choose another school - which 99.9% of kids will do - I don't get bent out of shape and start making excuses. When things were looking great to land Hayes the first go around, everyone wanted him. Then he picks SC and things die down, some people dog him for making HIS choice. Rumors start to fly that he's looking at other schools, ND specifically, and almost everyone is back on the band wagon. Now that he's taking visits and it doesn't look well for ND - he's a high risk/high reward, hasn't played enough, doesn't care about school, his head is in the clouds, enjoys the process too much, etc. It's a joke. Just because this kid has had to deal with a few nagging injuries and compliments every school he visits people think it's cool to trash him. May he bust in college? Perhaps. But so could any kid in the country. He doesn't have game film dominating a bunch of undersized high school kids, but he does have compliments from national analysts in a camp setting with the best high school athletes in the country - chasing much smaller players all over the field with ease. That's what makes him an impressive prospect. If he stays healthy, he's got the size/athleticism to play multiple positions at a very high level and seems to be a bright/intelligent young man. Why wouldn't you want that player on campus, and why do we assume he's less of a decent human being if he doesn't pick ND?
Just because he is extremely good in shorts does not translate to he will be just as good on the field in pads..
