Adversity... what would this season be without it? Team needs to rally around our strengths and play hard right out of the gate. Focus on what BW does well and play to that. We know hes not a short ball accurate passer but he is mobile and we can use that to our advantage. Expect FSU to stack the box and we need to be prepared for it, use different run plays and dont just stick to the dive for 3 plays in a row. I would love to see a play action deep ball the first play of the game!

Get well FAST Book!

I can't tell if you're being serious or not but if some are still thinking it would've been a good idea to move him at this point, I have to seriously question your decision making skills.

No idea how you could think moving him to RB would've helped him as a QB, especially given he's most likely been getting 40% of the reps in practice.

Because in life, when someone doesn't share the same opinion as you, it must be a THEM issue....

I don't believe anyone ever made the statement, or implied, that moving him to RB was going to help him be as a QB.

Yep...Thunder Clap FSU from the first snap and demonstrate that it doesn't matter who our QB is! Get better Ian!

I asked my cousin to do some digging, he has some classes with Boykin, Tony Jones, and Kmet. They said to their knowledge he does NOT have broken ribs, they are bruised and he could fight through it if need be but they want him good for 'cuse and SC. hopefully they are confident we can take FSU without him.

There's nothing wrong with having different opinions, but keeping Wimbush (only) at QB was the ONLY logical decision, factually.

Glad you are hearing something similar, couple rumors floating about it being more serious. But seemed to be random hear say.

Get well young man! Prayers for your complete and speedy recovery.

Part of me is freaking out.

Part of me knows he came back in and was lights out.

If this is a grade 1 and hairline fracture, not playing him is 100% safety related, not "can't perform" related. Let's hope he's a quick healer.

Medically, I know a broken rib typically takes 6 weeks to heal. Hairlines I assume quicker. Grade ones kidney google says "up to" two weeks.

Athletes play with broken ribs all the time, so it's definitely not a show stopper. All depends on where it broke, and how bad. If ongoing safety is not a concern, I'm sure he'll be back out there in a couple weeks completing it 75+%. Hope he's not running though.

some info on the kidney grades

This is why I love this site. Bama fans be like "shoot him up with pain meds and put his as* back in. He still has one good kidney." Notre Dame fans be giving us the medical breakdown of said injury.

Hope it is nothing serious and he gets back next week. And I would expect BW to be ready and fully prepared to play. Notre Dame still wins but the margin may be a bit smaller. The goal should be simply to win... and I think that's all the committee would be interested in as well.

You guys have been clamoring for the deep ball. BW has no problem in that department.

FSU has given up on their season. ND is fine. If Book isn’t dressed and things miraculously get out of hand, we see 5-star Phil.

Keep calm, go Irish.

From ISD, it sounds like he's not dressing out. Phil is the defacto #2 for the FSU game.

LoL...

My allegiance still falls well below the grit line. It's fine to sneak across it from time to time, but I find my way back fairly quickly.

Chances Phil plays if BW struggles in the first half?

He's only played in one game thus far, so slim if the game is still in the balance, and they think they can get enough from Wimbush to eek out a win.

If FSU has a 2+ score lead at halftime, and it looks like Wimbush isn't gonna be able to hit passes over the linebackers, which should be easy? Then maybe. It's looking like an L is on the table if you don't try something, and you're not burning his redshirt yet, as it would only be his second appearance.

I think it's moot, though. FSU's offense is bad. ND should win the game as long as Wimbush is good enough to get them in field goal range 4 times, tbh.

factually, you said

"only at QB" does not equal "getting him involved in the running game".

What?

You know "getting him involved in the running game" means, playing him at QB and running the ball (per his normal game), right? Lol.

i wouldn't be shocked at all to see another LSU like sub. i think BK is over the whole "holding onto things too long" thingy....

PJ has had 75% of a season to get acclimated. Not saying he's had a lot of practice reps, but at his core, he's an accurate guy that didn't turn the ball over that much. He should know the playbook, and should be fine with simple calls. He's not perfect, but 73% completions and 15% INT to TD in HS. Accuracy is something that's very hard to teach, but it's also not something the goes away if you already have it. would love to know what % of reps he's getting this week.

You know you are comparing PJ's potential to high school accomplishments, right?

It's hilarious because, we KNOW that it proves nothing, given that Brandon was ultra accurate/careful with the ball in HS.

Phil could be the next goat, but he has never played a meaningful snap. Let's cool it, the dude as of just a couple weeks ago was still "playing off cards"...

No, that's not at all how I took BK's comments, nor do most. In context BK said BW would be one of the best RBs on the team, but they could not afford to use him that way because of his back up responsibilities, but then, immediately said "but who knows in a couple weeks"

BK was not talking about BW QB packages. He would have said as much.

My first thought was to expect a deep ball on ND’s first play from scrimmage & like everyone before it since last year....it will be overthrown. On the positive side...he’s due to finally hit one.

We know from spring ball he was accurate. We know from his ratings, camps, and talking heads that he is accurate.

Comparing HS careers... they were both very, very different QB types. PJ had more than double the yards passing his senior year, just shy of 4000 (vs ~1800 for BW). If you watch their tapes, very different.

BTW, I never said he would be GOAT. I said he was accurate, and that I would not be surprised to see him if BW struggled. I know you have your dander up from getting called out about BK's comments on BW, so perhaps you should follow your own "let's cool it" advice...

Sack up!!

There's worse things than needing your, 11-3 (or whatever it is) as a starter, back up playing. Who, oh btw, was the starter for our best win of the season.

A year and a half ago people were comparing Book to noodle arm Rees now we can't beat a 3 win team without him?!?!

Come on now.

BW is going to grab the bull by the horns.. 13-3 as a starter. This could be an audition for possibly another program for next year. Kid has been nothing but class act all the way through. He will be solid.

If I'm FSU, I use this as a possible springboard for next season. What better way to turn things around than an upset of an undefeated team falling back to a backup QB (Although certainly this backup is a different scenario since he was once the starter). There will be a lot of reasons for FSU to get motivated I think. I'm not calling for an upset, especially since we've seen Florida boys freeze up here in the past, but I think we better come out fast just in case and break their spirit early.
