If you recall we freaked out when 7 couldn’t play against UNC last year and 12 got us a nice win. 7 is 13-3 been part of the team all year and not had sour grapes. You’d hope the team sees this rallies around him and he makes the best of this opportunity. I have faith in him.

NOTRE DAME FANS: Hey, things are going pretty well! This is great! We have a great defense and a QB that can make all kinds of plays with great efficiency!

THE FOOTBALL GODS: Ha, they're so happy. LOL hold my beer.

Well, I'm glad that Brandon has been practicing QB and not freaking RB/WR like some idiots have suggested.

I know.....it's not like his running ability is his biggest strength when he's on the field. Or that him seeing time on the field leading up to this would've been a good thing. Glad he sat on the bench with no game action and doing nothing at game speed so he'd be ready to go, plug and play.

How we gonna do that when FSU puts 12 mean in the box?
Just run the damn ball and everything will be fine. It will also help if there is no special teams idiocy like normal.

Well, at least the game will be more interesting.

Long will have to completely change his play calling to suit BW. We better not throw a single tunnel screen.

Not trying to pick on you but I can't stand this mentality. We are 9-0. All that matters is winning. Who cares how interesting/watchable the game is...

Or he could have been injured / forgot play book....

I'll take an experienced starter on the bench over wtf you think they should have done with him.

Could you imagine if this was PJ time?

Okay, so we beat teams by 3-6 points instead of 14. Just win baby.

Two thoughts:

1) if, God forbid, Wimbush struggles hard early, does BK go to Phil at any point?

2) is this exactly the thing that playoff committee needes in order to justify jumping Michigan over us?

Look at this way: Our back-up is hurt and starter is starting again. Who was the QB to beat scum?

On the contrary, should we drop a single close game in the next two or three weeks without Book, the committee would likely give ND a pass. They account for injuries.

If we beat FSU, lose a close one to Syracuse if Wimbush were to struggle, and then beat USC, ND is still likely in at 11-1 as long as it's clear that Book would be back.

Just my opinion, though.

Yeah, but that was all due to some one in a million play where our sucky wide receiver made a play on the ball.

I agree with you to a certain extent. A loss, im not so sure we survive in the Rankings. However, any CLOSE wins, i believe are thrown out the window and they are not looked down upon by the committee

Get well young man! Prayers for your complete and speedy recovery.

Part of me is freaking out.

Part of me knows he came back in and was lights out.

If this is a grade 1 and hairline fracture, not playing him is 100% safety related, not "can't perform" related. Let's hope he's a quick healer.

Medically, I know a broken rib typically takes 6 weeks to heal. Hairlines I assume quicker. Grade ones kidney google says "up to" two weeks.

Athletes play with broken ribs all the time, so it's definitely not a show stopper. All depends on where it broke, and how bad. If ongoing safety is not a concern, I'm sure he'll be back out there in a couple weeks completing it 75+%. Hope he's not running though.

some info on the kidney grades

That's all that matters to you and that's fine. I'll be at the game with some friends and I'm looking for a silver lining. Every game is a toss up now in my mind so I'm trying to set my expectations accordingly.

I would also like to make it to the playoffs but I don't think BW is capable of taking us there. So even if we win this weekend, it's all going to come down to the severity of injury to Book.

Dude has earned a ton of respect from me for going back out and playing through that in the 2nd half and playing incredibly well. That QB run play to seal the game could've been awful if he would've taken a hit with a fractured rib.

Hope his kidneys/ribs heal up and he can play vs. Syracuse.

Rib injuries suck. I liken them to sprains and such. All it takes is for one hit x amount of weeks into recovery, and it's right back to square one. When I was a junior in high school I played the season with a rib injury. It didn't bother me running, throwing a football, jumping, etc. But getting hit is torturous.

Speedy recovery to Ian. Sounds like he got lucky in it is pretty minor.

Everyone needs to chill out. BW beat the current #4 team in the country. The weather is going to suck on saturday, florida boys coming up to play in the cold. Grind it out, don't over complicate things. Take what they give you and let the defense do their thing.

I think a game we win by 35 is extremely watchable

I can't tell if you're being serious or not but if some are still thinking it would've been a good idea to move him at this point, I have to seriously question your decision making skills.

No idea how you could think moving him to RB would've helped him as a QB, especially given he's most likely been getting 40% of the reps in practice.

Yep. When I heard the news this morning my brain immediately went to that play. kid is tough as nails playing the remainder of the game at the high level he did.
