True, but not all his fault.

Adams can break a long run anytime he touches the ball. Give him more carries, the higher chance he breaks a long run and then the average yard per carry goes way up ;)

Wasn't baggin' on him. Just saw the stat today and I thought it was impossible. He's the kind of back it's ok to give to when you're down to mix it up while they are trying to take away the pass.

Like a 3&2 when a sack makes you considering punting and the games on the line?

No, first or second on Kelly's versions of the draw or a FB dive. Third down is always for my mobile QB to have it in space. Kelly will learn that some... No he won't, who'm I kiddin'.

But having to score you should be thinking four downs. That's when you keep it in mobile qbs hands.

Isn't that what Texes did with Vince Young in championship games last drive vs USC

Of course Sherm, just like I wrote it up.

I think I may watch that tomorrow while working. I don't remember the particulars of that game, just that it was the greatest single performance ever. Like Jordan playing 1 on 10 and winning.

You should also checkout the Rose Bowl the prior year between Texas and Michigan. Steve Breston put on a show, but VY was unstoppable.

Another way of saying it is, ND is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry against teams that can stunt their defense against read-option, zone blocking offenses, and have the personnel to carry it off for the whole 60 minutes.

Is that fair?

Because both Texas and MSU were able to free an extra defender at the point of attack by reading the plays telegraphed by the ND offense. They would have followed their reads anyway, but ND on offense and defense has really telegraphed their intent this season. Badly.

Expecting a running back to have success when there is always a defender free of blocking at the point of attack, actually makes 3.1 yards per carry look good!

This is what was missing in the 2016 season. Hope to see a lot more of this mindset this year.

There's one of your leaders for this year. You could see the passion in his face.

Context: Kizer had 129 last year, and 134 the year before. (I assume that includes sacks)

It includes all sacks and scrambles. By saying 15-10-10 for this year you're effectively saying you'd have less than 30 designed/called runs a game in an offense that will probably take 75+ snaps every game. That'd be horrible imbalance, so you might want to rethink your totals. Trying to throw 40+ times a game with this line and backs would make me want to break things.

I expect by the end of the year it looks something like:
Adams - 18
Williams -12
Jones - 10
Wimbush - 8 (3 designed, 5 scrambles, no sacks included in this number)

Total - 43 designed runs a game to go with about 32 drop backs.

Josh Adams is good and will have a great year.

this. thats why i want his carries closer to 20. trying to tackle him all game, then we bring in Juice and mix in some of Wimbush and Jones, we could have the defense really beat and on its heels by games end.

The scientifically perfect rushing distribution model:

Adams/Williams ... 30 ..... fluctuates on who's hot
Wimbush .............. 7.5 .... design/scramble/sack
Jones ................... 3 ........ mostly mop up, will get significant time but as a 3rd down back.
WR's .................... 1.5 ..... *** gotta throw 20 sweeps in for the year.

*** Does Long like sweeps? lol
