This would be another crown jewel of the class. If we could land him and Cornell, then we have to start wondering how many crown jewels can you have per class?

As many as you can stuff in the treasure chest, I suppose. Our class could start shaping up like an Alabama class or a USC class back in the day.

sounds like Wiltfong says he is going to Alabama this weekend. This is disappointing

He's visiting Alabama this coming weekend, April 5. Is likely headed to ND April 12 for spring game.

I saw one from 247 where the family was impressed with bama's academic support system. It was the first time they'd heard there would be tutors for every class his freshman year. Either he or his dad was quoted as saying if you can't succeed academically at Alabama, you don't want to.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Especially when the classes aren't hard.

Someone should mention to him that succeeding academically and getting good grades are not necessarily the same thing.

I have no doubt this is the case but he should look at graduation rate -- talk is cheap.

Not only the graduation rate, but also take a look at their majors. Majoring in something akin to Underwater Fire Prevention is not going to get you anywhere should a career in the NFL not be in the cards.

Per ISD - Justin and his family solidified their plans and will definitely be coming to ND this weekend for the Spring Game. Not a shock, but awesome that the trip is in stone now and he chose us over Michigan and OSU.

I imagine getting on campus and going to confession after his Bama visit was part of the thought process here, haha.

Basically an interview with his Pops. Nothing new really. Mentions that their trip to Alabama went well, but nothing Earth shattering. Expects to narrow to a top 5 by end of May. Getting back to hang with players, get more comfortable, and build his relationship with VanGorder.

ISD feels we are in great position.

Just thinking out loud here. If Jashon and Justin are serious about playing together. Then we can eliminate OU, Bama, and OSU. IMO. Iowa would be a much bigger threat because Jashon acknowledges that Iowa was one of his first big offers and Justin has his brother there. ND/UM/Iowa battle. I like our chances there.

Someone mentioned in the Cornell thread that if Cornell visits, he could stay with Onawala for free or get a hotel if he wanted, but I wonder if Hilliard and his pops are visiting, if those three might stay together? I'd love for Hilliard to have another great visit and be in Jashon's ear all weekend since they're so close.

Yeah, I'm way too excited about this recruiting weekend.

I think that BVG will hit a home run with Hilliard and his Father this weekend. If that happens, I would expect Hilliard to stay in Cornell's ear about the defensive staff and in particular, BVG and how much fun it would be to play for him. If BVG can also get time with Cornell and hopefully with Cornell and Hilliard together, well I would expect us to make a serious move with Cornell as well, especially when his position and role here is laid out for him.

For some reason, I just see Hilliard being the key to these two and really selling ND to Cornell from this weekend on provided it goes as I hope.

First post after lots of lurking. I was a long time member of Irish Illustrated and then 24/7 before coming here. Lots of good stuff here and I enjoy reading what everyone has to say.
