I really feel that places like Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech could be good fits for him. Vandy is already adding a QB transfer, but otherwise they are bereft of talent at that position. Northwestern could also be a good fit, but that'd be a real quarterback competition... I also think he's a lot better than the guy who started at UVA last year. Each of those schools have strong graduate programs.

Was thinking the same thing. His play reminded me of a more talented McSorely too and I think he would fit in really well in that offense.

Tommy Stevens is starting next year for them. Wimbush would fit really well with that offense but Stevens has sat for 4 years and was deemed one of the best backups in America by an NBC Sports article. Contemplated transferring last offseason but returned with a very likely assurance that he would be the 2019 starting QB. Here are the most run oriented power 5 schools and their QB depth charts.

Mississippi State
JR Keytaon Thompson
RS FR Jalen Mayden
FR Garrett Shrader

Illinois
SO M.J. Rivers II
RS FR Coran Taylor
RS FR Matt Robinson
FR Isaiah Williams

Syracuse
RS SO Tommy DeVito
RS FR Chance Amie

Kentucky
RS JR Terry Wilson
RS JR Gunnar Hoark
RS SO Walker Wood

Louisville
RS JR Jawon Pass
RS SO Malik Cunningham

Mississippi State is run by the former Penn State OC so they run a similar offense to the Penn State one. Nick Fitzgerald just graduated and there’s an opening at QB. Illinois lost their starter but Isaiah Williams has probably been promised to start from day 1. Syracuse loses Eric Dungey and Kentucky and Louisville has the worst QBR for power 5 schools in the country so they need different QBs. Also, The App State coach who came to Louisville had a running QB at App State so that’s another plus. I think if Mississippi State and Kentucky call Brandon those would be the most talented teams on this list that need a QB. I’d be pretty confident that he could win the Kentucky job over their incumbent starter. With Wimbush they’d probably be close to a Sugar Bowl level team this year.

Kentucky would be a lock to win 10 games next year with Wimbush at QB. They nearly did it this year with Terry Wilson, and Wimbush is far superior to Wilson as a QB.

Florida & South Carolina aren't going to be easy wins next season.

I can't think of a better place ON the field than Syracuse. Dungey's gone and Wimbush is just a better Dungey. Babers is gonna lose the ability to run at QB with DeVito.

Question is... Is Syracuse's Whitman School of Mgmt/Accounting worth BW's time?

I think he's better off going to a solid MAC program and killing it at that level.

This was my take for Zaire, for sure. Malik had played very little football at the time of his transfer and I thought going the route he did was risky. I have a hard time thinking BW will be able to go to a blue blood and walk right in and start. Love the kid but he doesn't strike me as someone who can pick up an offense super quick. Hope he goes somewhere where he is the clear #1. Might have to be a lesser school.

Zaire made a colossally bad choice, both in the school he chose, and the fact that he waited so long to get clearance to go there.

Hopefully Wimbush makes his decision quickly, wherever he chooses.

Has he officially said he is transferring or is this still speculation (however educated/logical it may be)?

Love both Syracuse and GT. I think GT would be the best though. Everyone in the new system, will be new to it unless the coach brings guys with him. He'll be the most talented there and learning it at the same time as everybody else. It's also a good school, that sits in a pretty attractive setting. Thursday night games at GT under the city lights are cool as shit too. Before we half-joined the ACC, I use to cheer for GT as an alternative to UGA, and would always try to hit one or two big games per year (especially the night games). Had a lot of fun over there over the past 15-20 years. No where near the level of ND or UGA, but unique and fun.

Yup. The East is getting better. UGA, FL, SC IMO will place ahead of KY next year. Missouri bounces up and down but could be decent. UT is going to continue to improve in the 2nd year of Pruitt. KY had some luck, and some over achievers. I just don't see them sustaining success given their history and traditions, or lack there of.

Thank you Brandon for the contributions you have made to the ND football program. Although I hate to see you go, I can understand completely your desire to be on the field as a starter. Good luck and best wishes for a successful 2019 season.

From the perspective of Brandon’s camp, is there a benefit to releasing this info now as opposed to after the playoffs? Seems like an odd, ill-timed distraction.

It seems like this is just a reporter stating the obvious.

With that said, I wish Brandon nothing but the best.

Seems like timing could have been a little better. Don't need anything detracting from the mission. Best of luck to BW. Hope PJ is ready to roll by next year.

Given it's really not even news, i doubt there's any impact for the next couple weeks. I'm sure he's already been in contact with schools with BK's blessings, and I can see even BK working hard to find the perfect match. A big meh in terms of story line.

Thank Brandon! Appreciate all that you've done and will do over the next couple weeks.

It sounds like they just found his name on the transfer portal. Putting his name on that allows other teams to contact him. Considering most teams seeking transfer QBs are going to be looking for guys real soon if they haven't already, getting his name on the list as soon as possible was probably best. This is especially true if he is able to get it on before Jalen Hurts who he might be competing with for a spot at a good program considering they seem to have similar profiles.

Seeing him come out fired up on Senior Day was awesome, and I'm glad he got to live that moment and deliver a big win. I'll root for him wherever he goes.

Yessir, him starting against FSU after the way he handled everything up to that point...one of my favorite moments (so far!) this season.

He is a class act and a stud athlete. I hope he puts it all together and kills it next year for whoever he is playing for.

Easily one of my all time favorites at ND.

Said it to my buddy before the game, said it during the game.

If (it did) this game goes to shit on offense, we should give Brandon a couple of series to play Michigan backyard football offense.

Ian had what, 17 rushes (most not designed) and 50 percent completion?

Why not at least let a home run hitter try and put up similar passing numbers and possibly out run the pass rush and move the sticks, ala Michigan?

Kelly said, back during the Book integration that he needed Brandon's skill set against Michigan.... Well....

They weren’t going to give BW a shot since he already came out with the transfer announcement. If he would have kept his mouth shut he might have seen some action. Book played like A$$.

It wouldn’t have been fair to BW to throw him in down 3 TDs. I’m assuming he got minimal reps being the back up. Expecting him to do anything of relevance is a pipe dream at that point.

Had we known how Book would perform, I think we all wondered what if BK knew Book wasn’t quite ready for an elite D & needed BW’s dual threat (ala UM game) to give them a chance. That’s not a rational thought but I understand it crossing people’s minds.

BK & Long need to decide if the want to open up competition between Book & Jurkovec going forward. I’m not calling for it...that’s way above my pay grade. But if BK is going to be as pragmatice as he was in game 4, he needs to think about it. That’s what Dabo did after Bama shut Clemson down w/ Kelly Bryant at the helm last CFP.
