The smoke is not good from Coney's fire. Hasn't been and no one is listening.
I definitely think he should come back, but food for thought. Jerry ended the year with 52 tackles, 8.5 TFL's, and 4 Sacks.
Below is the top 8 DT prospects, per Walter Football, for the 2018 Draft. (As of Nov. 18th.)
D. Payne 45 tkls. 1 TFL's, 1 sack
C. Wilkins 52 tkls, 9 TFL's, 5 sacks
V. Vea 37 tkls, 5.5 TFL's, 3.5 sacks
T. Bryan 37 tkls, 6 TFL's, 4 sacks
M. Hurst 58 tkls, 13 TFL's, 5.5 sacks
D. Jones 20 tkls, 5 TFL's, 1 sack
T. Thompson 33 tkls, 3 TFL's, 0 sacks
D. Nnadi 51 tkls. 9 TFL's, 3.5 sacks
So, out of the top 8 DT's (per Walter football), there are only 2 that have better production this year, and some it's not even close.
Now some of this is position bias, I get it. But he was quite productive.
Bump this since it came up in Coney's thread. For example, Christian Wilkins after 14 games ended the season with 60 tackles, 9 TFL's, and 5 sacks. This is to Jerry's 56, 9, and 4.5 through 13 games.
So he had really good production and could be a top 10 DT and get drafted in 4th-6th round, correct? Or he could come back with insurance and work to increase his stock and be one of the top 3 DTs off the board.
Really think it makes sense for him to come back.
Well, what you're are clearly not taking into account is the difference between being a top 3 DT or being the 6th DT off the board. Which there could be a full round/round and 1/2 between the 6th and 10th.
At this point, I think he should come back, but his production number reflect he's in a better position than some think.
Your post saying top 10 DT and being a 4th to 6th round pick is automatically assuming he's no better than the 10th DT on that list.

He's was leaning towards staying before Elko left. Coney I'd say is like 70/30 leaning towards leaving. There's a lot of conflicting stuff out there, but if it was a done deal they were leaving we'd know.
Per Sampson, he’s coming back.

This was so critical. Thank you Terry Jillery!
Jerry is doing study abroad in Japan this summer right?
