loved hearing the below... especially the stuff from GB.

Mixing with Notre Dame's current roster during that weekend was key to making Coney feel comfortable in South Bend, including Jaylon Smith, Greg Bryant and Nyles Morgan.

"Greg Bryant is from my area, like 10 minutes away from me and he talked to me about the challenge there, how it makes you become a man and continue to grow," Coney said. "I talked to Nyles and he gave me good advice. Jaylon gave great advice. He told me if I want to get a great education and play great football to come to Notre Dame, not that he was trying to talk me into going there. But if I decided to come there he said he'd have my back 100 percent."

This LB haul is ridiculous! Two in-state studs and a FL boy. The next few years really look bright! I wonder with the depth here, do you guys think that Tranquill will stay at Safety or grow into a LB? I almost think he has to stay at Safety because of depth issues at the position. Thoughts?

Boy, did Justin Brent ever piss on Tevon Coney's day.

I bet Coney forwarded the TMZ story to the staffs of Miami and Florida attached to the message of, "That's why"

.

Wonder how high our class ranking will jump up after Wimbush, Wallace, Bilal, and Coney

We're going to have a tough time getting much higher than where we currently are with this class but I'm fine with that. Ex. UT, South Carolina, and Clemson all have lower avg. player ratings but will end up with substantially more players.

Yeah, I don't even care about that anymore anyways. Sure it's nice to have a class like '13 but '14's was equally as awesome. Great balance of star power with just down right good football players and contributors. I think this class will be equally as good and will mesh well with the current roster. Things are looking very good!

This is going to sound cliche, but with each passing year, I care less about recruiting rankings. Kelly's staff is crazy good at evaluating talent, so there's a very good chance many of our 3:s: recruits are going to turn into very productive players.

Consider our star receivers this year. Will Fuller's best offers (other than ND) were PSU, BC and Rutgers. He was a high 3:s:/ low 4:s: that we flipped from PSU late in the cycle with little very fanfare. And Corey Robinson, as a very low composite 3:s:, wasn't even on the radar for another major program.

Point being, Kelly is a boss at scouting and developing talent, so the recruiting rankings mean much less for us than they once did.

I totally agree, I was just more commenting on the topic since it was brought up. I really just like following rankings for the prospect. Its cool to see their progress and then when they are rewarded for their hardwork. I think this class is very similar to every other year where we have some really good football players that the services just don't get.

And this is why I will never understand why people question the staff when they accept a commitment early in the process from a 3 star prospect.

Look at the product the staff is putting on the field every Saturday, I think they have a pretty good eye at spotting talent.

I won't be surprised one bit if someone like Nick Coleman, Ashton White, or Trevor Ruhland turns into a 2-3 year starter for this team

To be fair, we went a long time without a coaching staff who was capable of scouting or developing talent like Kelly. Concern over recruiting rankings was well-justified then, because we couldn't count on the players getting much better within the program.

Or our three 3:s: DTs. I have no doubt that one of those guys is gonna turn into a monster.

The first 2-3 years of the Kelly era, I could see why people would scratch their head a little. But once he took this team to South Beach, any kind of doubt people had should've been gone.

I also think ND are in that small group of schools that don't rebuild anymore, they just reload.

If you look at the % of recruits Kelly has brought in who have been contributors vs. busts, it's really incredible. Hell, Fuller and Robinson had absolutely trash offer lists and both are studs.

We've got 5 true frosh on D who get significant PT, and 4 of them were consensus 3-stars. Pretty incredible.
