I just got around to watching these highlights. I absolutely love this kid in our offense. He reminds me a lot of Theo Riddick. Short but relatively well built. Not as much as Theo but won't be asked to do much downhill running either so having a few less lbs. won't be an issue. Very good feet and balance. That combination makes it hard for any 1 player to bring him down especially while in motion. Obviously this is a highlight tape but notice how many leg or ankle tackles he shakes off. Strong lower body is good for running through traffic. Lastly, and maybe most importantly he has the one thing is we continue to need and that is very good speed.

He seems to be significantly faster than Riddick. Of course, I keep remembering hearing back in '09 that Riddick was the fastest player on our team. I just didn't see it. He was powerful, blocked adequately, could catch the ball out of the backfield and had decent speed, but nothing about him screamed burner. CJ on the other hand has elite speed or something close to it. Something we almost had with McKenzie...and now I'm sad.

I agree that he has much better top end speed that Riddick. I made sure to say at the end he had very good speed I just didn't differentiate his from Riddick's.

I don't think I have ever seen anyone at ND in the past 10 years that could make the first guy miss quite like Theo. The first guy at him in the open field almost always had absolutely no shot at tackling him, and usually looked foolish in the process.

More important than top end speed, didn't Sanders win the Sparq shuttle drill at The Opening?

Golden was up there too.

His wildcat plays and punt returns showed it off.

The depressing thing is that at the time, Theo probably WAS the fastest guy on the team behind Tate.

At one time, ND had Rudolph, Floyd, Tate, and Riddick on the same team... and went 6-6. SMH.

(Also, current NFL starters Jonas Gray and Robert Hughes)

(And Harrison Smith, Manti Te'o, Sergio Brown, KLM, Williams, Walls, etc. on the other side of the ball playing leaky defense... basically an entire roster of NFL caliber players)

Fwiw, in a rivals interview he mentioned that UCLA is still comin after him pretty hard. He gave no indication of reciprocating the interest and says he solid.

How many players do they have verballed and how many more are they continuing to go after? I feel like they're approaching 50 right now.

Actually they have 18, 4 less than us. Surprising.

Mora sees a Notre Dame commit, and thinks he can have them.

Mora is having a lot of success getting after Cali and TX (SW kids) that we are recruiting as well. However, he's also not coming into IN or the Midwest and getting too many kids we want as well. There just happens to be a ton of talent in those regions.

Well, since I can't read your mind and it wasn't sarcasm then I tend to take people at their posts. I guess I could just never take you seriously but I like my way better.
